News notes from around the interweb:
- Air France KLM double miles and elite credits through end of year (HT: Doctor of Credit)
- American Airlines offering touchless bag check for domestic itineraries
Credit: American Airlines - W New York Downtown hotel in Lower Manhattan won’t re-open. Sad, while not my favorite hotel I stayed there several times as it was walkable for me to some morning meetings.
- Better late than never: New York JFK installs visual cues to encourage distancing
- American Express seizes cash from Tori Spelling’s bank account to cover unpaid bills in a saga that’s run since 2016, underscoring why it’s so often pointless to sue and valuable merely to threaten to sue.
- With Air Canada’s new frequent flyer program coming, here’s really good background and what to expect from the head of the program:
The downtown W was an abjectly terrible hotel.
It will not be missed. Also someone will likely turn it into a less terrible hotel/office/apartment
I suppose Amex and Tori wont be partnering anytime soon or having dinner together
Amex is certainly aggressive
I toured the W Downtown one night after dinner at Mortons across the street but never stayed there
It was cold and unfriendly and I like modern.I don’t drink or do drugs and I found the floor lighting disconcerting. The reviews were never to good on the property either. For me it was just another in a long list of overbuilding Starwood hotels where they were cold and calculated and void of great substance and superior design.
Tori’s mother is uber-wealthy. I wonder why she’s not helping out.
@Kirk – Tori and her mother have a long running feud. It goes back to when her father died and he didn’t want to overly spoil his kids so he left each of them less than a million $ with the balance going to his wife. Tori’s mom has helped from time to time but not recently since Tori has become more of a train wreck in constant financial trouble. BTW, between Tori and her husband they have certainly earned enough on their own to have a very comfortable lifestyle but obviously can’t manage money.
Gary – one criticism with the title – I wouldn’t consider Tori Spelling a “Hollywood Star” unless you are going down to C and D list!
