I’ve been to India many times and still find much outside of my comprehension, including its laws. How is it that a woman who entered the country to have an affair with a taxi driver she’d met on a previous trip wound up detained by police for having done so, with a case being filed against the taxi driver?
The woman visited Hyderabad from London to attend her mother’s funeral back in February. She fell in love with a taxi driver.
The mother of two had hired the man’s taxi and paid online. That’s how he got her phone number. He began texted her, and she fell in love. This continued while she was back in London with her husband of 17 years.
Then in September her mother-in-law died. Her husband flew to Hyderabad to attend the funeral. And she flew there, too, while he was gone to meet the taxi driver… leaving her children behind.
And she didn’t come back. The man learned that she’d left, he tried to reach her, and she:
- claimed she was coming back to London
- but then couldn’t, because she had been kidnapped
So he reported it to authorities, who tracked her using cell phone data. She was in Goa. With the taxi driver. Authorities detained her and shipped her back to London. And the driver is in legal jeopardy now.

And they say men are the pigs…
This story is both shocking and fascinating! It’s hard to believe someone would go to such lengths. It raises so many questions about personal choices and the consequences that follow. I hope everyone involved can find resolution and healing. Thank you for sharing this intriguing update!
On today’s episode of Jerry Springer…
As for the taxi driver, the police are merely responding to the complaint of kidnapping. That will be sorted out. I am less hopeful for the woman’s marriage, and truly sad for her children.
