Loyalty Lobby reports that customers who book travel from Bangkok to Singapore on the Singapore Airlines website and pay by Mastercard are eligible for a complimentary upgrade through March 31, 2020.
Upgrades are space available and processed at the airport on the Star Alliance carrier’s two late evening Boeing 787 flights from Bangkok to Singapore:
- Bangkok – Singapore, 8:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. SQ983
- Bangkok – Singapore, 9:10 p.m. – 12:40 a.m.+1, SQ981
The offer is valid on all economy class purchases except for K class fares. Tickets must originate in Bangkok (either one ways Bangkok – Singapore, or roundtrips Bangkok – Singapore – Bangkok, roundtrips that start in Singapore are ineligible). No love for Singapore Airlines home market customers who the airline must think they’ve got a lock on anyway – Singapore isn’t spending Mastercard’s marketing dollars on Singapore residents but to compete in the Bangkok market.
One-way K fares may run $88 while upgrading to V may be just an extra $10 (and V may be the lowest available in any case).
Bangkok – Singapore is an 875 mile flight blocked at 2.5 hours, and the upgrade isn’t guaranteed. Coach on this sector is eminently doable. I wouldn’t go out of my way, then, to book travel on the late flights in hopes of an upgrade however upgrades are always great when they happen and here’s a chance for the average person to try Singapore Airlines new regional business class.
Business class on these flights seems to usually run ~ $343 one way, so there’s about $245 in potential extra value on offer free to Mastercard cardmembers.

–Recently, I was walking through LHR behind a Singapore Stewardess. Because of the long walk in LHR, I had plenty of time to put the Stewardess on a pedestal and decide that she was the most beautiful woman in the world. Clearly a Godess. Trying really hard not to stare. Really, in this regard, am I stupid beyond belief or not?
–To be honest, if Singapore Air flies 737 Max 8, it is worth flying them to look at the Stewardesses. The longer the flight is the better.
–Anyway, then I got on United Airlines and suddenly the book I was reading was way more important than the Stewardess, I wonder why.
–Hmm, I seem to remember a number of posts in this blog of beautiful Stewardesses (such as Vietnam Airline Bikini shows). Have not seen one recently. Blog getting more family friendly?
Other Just Saying: I better defend your stance quickly before the feminists and everyone else offended by your “scrutinizing” of women, especially of Asian women come into play haha. For the most part, Singapore Airlines prides itself as a national carrier and these men and women take pride in their careers, unlike US or European based carriers where a flight attendant is typically seen as a job. Regardless of age, people who take care of their physical appearance come across as more attractive. One tends to chase the fountain of youth but once that realization is futile, the next step is to recognize maintenance is key and confidence in oneself starts to define a personality. As a gay guy, it happens in “our world” too, hence there’s the acronym for “twink” or “daddy” in the same play book for “cougar”.
