News and notes from around the interweb:
- Southwest flight attendant: if those were designer bags under your seat, you wouldn’t be flying Southwest
@divine_sorrow916 If you ever get this guy on your flight show him some love 👏🏾👏🏾 by far one of the best flight attendant / flight crew I’ve ever met wn241 . He deserves a raise @Southwest Airlines. #fyp #southwestairlines #denvertoraleigh #weekendvibes ♬ original sound – Itsjustmedonna - This is going to be a problem for a certain famous 86 year old crewmember, the longest-serving flight attendant who still flies for American Airlines, provided she’s held to the same standard.
I have a feeling it will be the end of the road for some extremely senior FAs if they need to get 777/787 trained.

- United Airlines Says They’re Becoming The U.S. “Flag Carrier.” A flag carrier was historically state-owned, a national carrier, or at least privileged by a national government. Considering the years United spent arguing against the role of the state with Gulf carriers, it seems a little odd to invoke the terminology. Although considering their partnership with Emirates now, not so odd. And United has been the airline flying to the most international destinations. They’ll have a lot of planes to keep doing so, of course many will wind up replacing current aircraft in their fleet.
Will be interesting to see if @AmericanAir or @Delta complain to the @FTC (or even @USDOT @SecretaryPete) about this claim from @united. Would @USGSA who administers government contracts with the City Pair Program be concerned? https://t.co/DIC3QN4hOo pic.twitter.com/sbA0Qw73CY

- The Boom supersonic engine that maybe could possibly be built.
- Bed bugs at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown?
- Two Marriott hotels in South Dakota with $2000 room rates
- Witness recalls shooting at DoubleTree hotel
The 777/787 training won’t be a problem for Betty as she is not held to the same standards.
Gary, Please, don’t use or include embedded TikTok links or hyperlinks in your articles! It’s bad enough approximately 25% of Americans are using the CCP-linked app. There are no security or tracking protections.
United will never be the flag carrier of the US.
agree with not using Tiktok when safer links are available. Record and download on another format with credits for a safer private transfer without giving your reader’s info to Tik-Tok.
United Airlines being the flag carrier of the United States is a joke. What is Nocella smoking?
I’m 6’5″ and find Polaris seats horrible – super cramped.
Inedible food in Business. Aging rude cabin crew – especially on long haul or Hawaii.
One trip to HNL on UA last February nailed it for me – never again!
The bigger problem with older flight attendants will be getting qualified in 737/A32X products, as they don’t bid for any flights under 8 hours.
United will never be the flag carrier of the US. They are the worst of the major three, by far, and only get the business they do because they’re cheap. I will happily keep paying a premium to fly Delta when I go international, because they have superior service, better lounges, better partners, and better hard product in flight. Polaris is a joke.
Let’s be real though, all US major airlines are an embarrassment compared to the flag carriers of many other nations.
I’ve not flown United (or Continental) for 30 years as they were/are the worst of the major carriers. Even if the have improved they are NOT the flag-carrier of the US. Who appointed them?
I’m 83 years old and working on my second million miles with United, formally a Continental flyer.
In most cases I have found the airline attendants to be friendly and willing to assist if needed.
Would not be able to fly if it weren’t for their Customer Service and Disability Department.
PLEASE KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
I know absolutely no one who flies with United. I stopped flying with American when I left Texas (thank goddess) because it’s a main hub and now I can use Alaska Air out of Seattle.
Delta is at the top of the list for US carriers.
I’ve never been on a plane, probably because I’ve never had a reason to. (would love one though) so I can speak on the quality of flying. However, I am knowledged with customer service and that is vital for so many companies. I will literally stop going somewhere based on my experience. I always give a second chance because face it, we all have bad days. So the second time if not met with wonderful service will be my last time.
