Not previously reported, an American Airlines flight was also hit. Flight AA819 from Haiti to Miami continued on its 713 mile journey and the Boeing 737 MAX landed safely with no injuries.

A Spirit Airlines plane was hit by bullets while flying over Port-au-Prince. They landed safely in Santiago, Dominican Republic, however a flight attendant was reportedly grazed by a bullet. Video from crew inside the aircraft show bullet holes.

American Airlines is back flying to Port-au-Prince, Haiti after service was halted in March following planes being hit by bullets at the airport as violent gangs under the direction of Jimmy Chérizier (“Barbecue”) attacked.

The airline’s pilots seem comfortable going back.

Violent gang attacks under the direction of Jimmy Cherizier (“Barbecue”) on Thursday near Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince, Haiti damaged several commercial aircraft while JetBlue took off, fortunately unscathed. American Airlines and Spirit Airlines cancelled their flights from Miami and Fort Lauderdale on Thursday.
