Hilton is out with their fall promotion, “Stay More, Earn More” and you can register to earn 1,500 bonus points per stay October 1 – December 31, 2025. That’s generously worth about $6.
This makes me sad, especially because it comes on the heels of another weak offering from Hilton Honors.
Hilton has quietly devalued Honors points yet again. Standard “free night” awards at top properties can now reach 250,000 points — the third hike since December. With no award chart and no notice to members, Hilton continues to erode trust while gutting the value of its loyalty program.
Four years ago Hilton eliminated free breakfast as a benefit for Honors Gold and Diamond members at U.S properties. In its place they offer a small food and beverage credit that can be used at any time throughout the day.
Hilton has jacked up the top redemption price of a room from 150,000 to 200,000 points. That’s a 4x increase in prices in 12 years which is a 300% cumulative increase or average Honors inflation rate of 41.4% – sitting between the current inflation facing Turkey and Argentina.
A reader booked a double points rate through Hilton and never got their double points after more than a month’s worth of follow up. So they disputed the hotel charge and won. Hilton closed their Diamond account. This is the story of how they got their Diamond status back.
1,000 bonus points are worth about $4. And that’s all you earn regardless of how much you spend or how long you stay. It’s not even 1,000 points per night!
Bilt Rewards is back with its Rent Day offers for March 1. The headline here is a Hilton Honors transfer bonus: 150% for general members, and 200% for anyone with Bilt Rewards status. A 200% transfer bonus means 3 Hilton points for every 1 Bilt point transferred.
Hilton Honors quietly raised free award night redemption prices on the last Friday before the holidays. Since they stopped publishing award charts, they did not tell anyone that they did this, but your Honors points are now worth less than they were on Thursday.
Several months ago Hilton became a Bilt Rewards transfer partner and you shouldn’t care (don’t ever transfer Bilt points to Hilton at 1:1), except that this means from time to time they’ll make really cool offers for Bilt’s monthly Rent Day. And that day has come.
Honors points are normally low value, but since the points cost of SLH Hotels is capped at the most expensive pricing for Hilton properties, you can get outstanding value – 3 to 4 cents per point in some cases, as opposed to less than half a cent per point normally. And the hotels are much nicer than most Hilton brand hotels.
