News and notes from around the interweb:
- They are referring to this.
It’s a meme across American Airlines flight attendant world.
- Southwest Airlines and the sort of feedback every recruiter should offer.
I too received a bit of feedback.
byu/turk_turklton inrecruitinghell - Frequent flyer programs are even better, they not the Fed control the value of the currency for redemption…
Starbuck's holds $1.8B in customer cash on their app & gift cards.
That is more cash on hand than 90% of banks covered by the FDIC.
This unused cash is interest-free capital for Starbucks.
In 2022, they reported $196M in "breakage revenue" via unredeemed gift cards.

- Incredible flight for the Norwegian Polar Institute.
Norse Atlantic Airways confirms to me the airline will soon operate a flight to Antarctica.
This unique charter flight should originate in Norway and have a stop somewhere.
This should also be the first time a Boeing 787 Dreamliner touches down in Antarctica. pic.twitter.com/Hy42XMavm0

- It’s now possible to access reservations with American Airlines codeshare flights on Japan Airlines using the JAL website.
The burning of shoes on an airplane suggests to me terrorist action such as Richard Reid. Do we have to worry about flight attendants that way?
What brand/name of shoes are they? I’m not fashionable/classy enough to recognize them.
It is Gucci, but I don’t follow what these shoes and what Gucci Gang and union busters mean.
AA flight attendant, near 32 years.
1. Taken out of context, the burning shoes meme might imply something it’s not. Our illustrious Sr. VP for Inflight (formerly Flight Service), Brady Byrnes, has proven to be unsupportive of flight attendants in the extreme, based in part on his inaction during our current contested contract negotiations. Recently when confronted, as he should have been, by our union (APFA) leadership at AA headquarters, he was wearing designer tennis shoes with jeans in his “professional” attire. Wearing very expensive tennis shoes while your work group is fighting for wages that at least reflect increases in cost of living in the past four years is tone deaf at the very least. Many memes have been created focusing on his attire spending, and this is one. It is not meant to reflect any issue with flight attendants posing danger to anyone. (I am not a fan of this meme, just explaining the context.)
2. I would never pay a ridiculous amount for shoes (or any clothing item), just my choice. But they are Gucci shoes, valued at roughly $450.
@jake – read the linked post
Ah I see. It’s just a metaphor for AA management lol.
