byu/PurplePickle3 inmarriott - The perfect Delta customer: spends 107,000 miles roundtrip for a coach Hawaii trip and is excited about it! It was ‘only $22!’
Been saving points for two years to go to Hawaii for $22!
byu/Ulrich453 indelta - On Cancun airport planning to crack down on the taxi touts in the arrivals hall, Enilria writes about maybe the most expensive standard drink in any airport there, a price that would make the Port Authority of New York New Jersey blush…
The cost of a margarita in the arrivals area at an airport approved concessionaire?
$45Oh, that’s in Pesos, right? Nope
Oh that’s top shelf right? Nope
That’s in a giant cup, right? Nope
It’s so ridiculous the wait staff makes you pay before you order it…

Guys does my playne have diarrhea? It’s not mentioned on the MEL, am I fine to continue my next flight?
byu/AshMain_Beach inShittyaskflying - Always pack your most important, fragile belongings as personal item not in full-size carry-on because you never know when you’ll be forced to gate check a bag (and you can’t always just ignore them like I did).
Hey @AmericanAir you broke my laptop, which is needed for work! To make matters worse, I can’t seem to file a claim online and I can’t get through to a representative by phone.
It was in my carry-on bag, which you forced me to check at the gate. @USDOT @PeteButtigieg pic.twitter.com/kYFGDD1Dxq

- The Taliban wants tourists to visit Afghanistan (NYT)
Always carry an extra lightweight bag in a carry-on in case you have to check the carry-on so you can still take the most damageable items into the cabin with you along with your power banks (always carry power banks so you have an excuse that cannot be denied.) I have taken to using a large backpack for my carry-on instead of a carry-on roller bag because it is smaller and way less likely to confiscated and sent to checked luggage. If you carry a laptop in any bag that is checked, make sure it is fully padded with thick padding. I cannot find true fault with the airline in the case in the article.
Well, take it out of carry on next time. . DUH
WRT/ Marriott Titanium Elite, there are other ways of getting such status without paying for even one night in a Marriott family of hotels or getting one of their credit cards.
It turns out that if you have approximately three weeks worth of timeshare interests in the Westin Vacation Club or the Marriott Vacation Club, you automatically get permanent Marriott Titanium Elite status.
FWIW, Marriott Titanium Elite status doesn’t necessarily get you very much, other than perhaps late checkout and some form of “breakfast” depending upon the specific Marriott “brand.” Within the United States at least, fewer Marriott hotels have open lounges anymore. And I NEVER have been able to score any free “room upgrade” although some of the Marriott properties will allow you to use additional Bonvoy points to get a more desirable room (such as oceanfront on high floor).
They would not have checked this if they knew it had lithium ion batteries (inside of the laptops). Puncturing these and exposing the lithium core to oxygen and moisture equal FIRE.
Fire + Plane = BAD.
Anyone who goes to Afghanistan as a tourist (or any other reason) is a special kind of stupid.
Shitter’s full.
The guy with Marriott Titanium is running business expenses through a Marriott card and earning a large amount of points, which fund his stays . . . and award stays earn elite night credits (on top of the annual ELCs granted from the cards). Evidently, he runs business expenses through airline cards as well. While it might not be the most efficient from a hobbyist’s perspective, he says he earns far more points than he will ever use . . . to the point that he doesn’t care. Fine. But, if this is the case, why is the guy wasting his time talking about points on Reddit?
