Three Great Airfares You Can Book Right Now

Earlier this year I wrote that it’s the golden age of air travel with cheap fares all over the world. Most of those fares have been in economy, with sub-$400 roundtrips to Europe and Asia with amazing flash sales.

I certainly prefer travel in business class, and readers have been asking for those deals, and I’ve highlighted West Coast to several European cities from $2000 roundtrip, business class to several Asian destinations for $1954, and West Coast to Africa from $2146 roundtrip along with an amazing Singapore Airlines sale between the US and Asia (or Europe) for less than $2000 roundtrip.

However right now there are 3 great economy fares to bring to your attention:

  • Los Angeles – Stockholm from $274 roundtrip in November and December. (HT: Secret Flying)

    Book on Norwegian’s Swedish website, rather than the US website, the airline’s prices are often lower on foreign sites. Just be sure to use a credit card with no foreign transaction fees. And pick travel dates from their low fare calendar.

  • Los Angeles to San Francisco to Paris, Nice or Milan from $393 roundtrip.

    American Airlines and Oneworld partners have Paris, Nice and Milan on sale from $390s to $453. Delta and SkyTeam attack with low Madrid fares around $450 round trip from LAX and SFO.

    Travel dates from Los Angeles to France begin in mid-August through April 2018.

    LAX to Milan, Italy goes on sale last week of October to April 2018.

    San Francisco and San Jose low fares are only for travel from mid-August through October.

  • Chicago – Abu Dhabi from $602 roundtrip flying KLM.

  1. It’s just wrong to say “use a card with no foreign exchange fees”. Cards can post that headline then use an exchange rate very much in their favor, or contract with a third party to do exchanges for them under profitable terms.

    Anyone who cares needs to compare their card’s actual transactions with a mid-market rate from a reliable source (at the time of the transaction, of course).

  2. The transaction fee can be 2 to 3% and in my view most major banks give a fair exchange rate. There are other options which I suspect keeps them on their toes so I’d rate the comment as accurate.

  3. I’ve checked the exchange rate and it’s always been pretty close to spot on.

  5. @Ken – the laptop ban only applies on flights *TO* the U.S. and currently only on non-stops from affected airports. So ORD-CDG-AUH-CDG-ORD would allow laptops the entire way.

  7. Are you aware of any great business class seats on a broken itinerary? Like outbound from US East coast, (maybe Atlanta) to HKG and a return from SYD? Last week of October out and 2nd week of December back? Trying to plan
