News and notes from around the interweb:
- Review of the new Jewel at the Singapore airport
- Yesterday’s Politico Playbook noted that Senator Bob Menendez – who was prosecuted and acquitted over his poor use of (someone else’s) American Express points, using points to pay like cash for a suite at the Park Hyatt Vendome in Paris – was spotted at Amex Fine i
Hotels and Resorts Marriott property Hotel Grande Bretagne in Athens at the breakfast buffet. - Airport facial recognition is replacing boarding passes it’s creepy, and it’s happening without enough discussion of what biometric data collection (and sharing with private companies, airlines even want to use this for accessing their lounges) means going forward. Continuing down this path the logical conclusion isn’t just storing faces but collecting DNA.
This is a *very* interesting thread on where we’re heading with facial recognition. We’re sleepwalking into something quite scary here. https://t.co/YXJvkyPR0f

- The FAA is auditing Atlanta airport’s finances and has issued subpeonas to the most corrupt airport in the country.
I bet he paid for it on points.
If Bob Menendez still has any Amex points, presumably he was using them at a hotel in Athens. Currently, it’s not possible to use them for underage girls in the Dominican Republic. Poor Bob!
Congrats to ATL. With ORD, JFK, LGA and EWR in the running, this is quite an achievement.
Atlanta airport has been corrupt as long as I have lived there. My parents moved there in the ‘60’s and, for some unknown reason, I’ve stayed, flying over 75,000 miles a year out of our vaunted Hartsfield-atlanta airport. So, I guess you could say, I’ve contributed to the corruption by continuing to use the airport and failing to vote out the corrupt politicians!
