United Lounge Hack: Flyers Are Cooking Up Secret Breakfast Sandwiches—Would You Try It? [Roundup]

News and notes from around the interweb:

  • The United Club McMuffin.

I present the UC C123 copycat McMuffin. What are your lounge recipes?

Here’s the recipe for the UC C123 Sausage McMuffin with Cheese:

    Ingredients:
A cheesy ham bagel sandwich plate
An English muffin w/ bacon and weird veggies plate
    One turkey sausage patty
    Ketchup

    Directions:
Get access to the EWR C123 lounge during breakfast hours.
    Grab the ingredients
Pick the English muffin sandwich clean
Onto the English muffin bottom half, layer the cheesy egg, turkey bacon, and bacon from the bagel sandwich
Slather on a little ketchup onto the top half of the English muffin and enjoy! The key here is ketchup to balance the very salty egg and cheese with some sweetness and acidity.

Not very handy then, is it?

  • Rest in peace. I cried watching this.

  • Singapore Airlines will ‘only’ be offering 2015 Cristal and 2016 Pol Roger Blanc de Blancs as their first class champagne choices. Then again, as Quentin Tarantino said in Four Rooms, compared to Cristal “everything else is piss.” And then there’s Jay-Z:

You can’t roll a blunt to this one / You gotta, you gotta well, ya gotta light a J,

You gotta puff a J on this one / You can’t even drink Crist-OWL on this one / You gotta drink Crist-ALL.

  1. Why go through all that effort when the NJ Pork Roll breakfast sandwiches are perfectly serviceable?

  2. RIP Ian and all those lost in the midair collision this past week. Respect to crews risking their lives day after day for us. We’ll keep flying. Thank you.

It’s a [Roundup], so Gary’s included a lot of random stuff in one place… so abruptly shifting gears: On lounge breakfasts, it’s not fancy, but compliments to the UnitedClubs at IAH for those breakfast fajitas—it’s simple yet so delicious (eggs, bacon or sausage, tortillas).

  3. Call it OCD, but I feel the need to clarify there is no such thing as the United Lounge.
There are United Clubs (membership based), and there are Polaris Lounges (only for long haul passengers).
It gets confusing for so many people, so I always try to use the correct terms. Even the original post from United Airlines used the wrong terminology.

  4. Always request mayo, tomatoes and onions from the staff to make it extra great. They usually say they don’t have lettuce but sometimes they do. Toasted bagel or English muffin, sausage, eggs, hot sauce, and then the mayo, ketchup, onions and lettuce. Not terrible but still not as good as Urban Tortilla’s chicken quesadilla at the E gates at SFO or the pepperoni pizza (available from 6am) at the SNA CPK.
