News notes from around the interweb:
- Anonymous United Airlines executive thinks government should demand the airline ‘cut the fat’ in middle management if they’re going to get taxpayer funds
- The American Airlines Miami D30 Admirals Club is now a face mask factory
- How one airline is keeping its planes in flying shape while parked (HT: Cranky Flier)
- Not much point in making planes right now, but…
- With planes grounded, pilots will have a hard time staying ‘current’ which means it may take time to get them ready to fly again.
- Why has Vietnam been so successful containing COVID-19? They share a border and have significant trade ties with China. Their media was raising the alarm about the virus since January 3.
Unclear to me whether you can successfully execute a “budget friendly” effective Covid-19 containment strategy. The number of active cases in Vietnam has jumped from ~20 to 120 currently. Still small numbers, but combined with the lack of widespread testing, I would be concerned it is more endemic than currently forecast.
