This offer came out a month ago but if you didn’t take advantage of it, you still can, it is still available: American AAdvantage will give you 100 miles for joining PointsHound, the hotel search website.
I’ve written about PointsHound in the past, and used it when they had rates that allowed you to earn miles in the airline of your choice for making a hotel booking and still earn hotel points, elite credit, and receive elite benefits from the applicable hotel loyalty program.
In addition to the 100 American AAdvantage miles for signing up, PointsHound will give you 2000 bonus American miles for your first booking (in addition to the points you’d otherwise earn through the site) made by March 31 for stays completed by January 31, 2016.
A total of 2100 bonus miles is better than the standard 1000 mile first-time customer bonus you’d get through my referral link when you complete your first stay. And you receive 100 of those miles right away, too, meaning you don’t even ever have to use the site.. just join their mailing list.
At a minimum, it keeps your miles from expiring — any account activity gives you 18 months until you need more to avoid expiring miles.
- You can join the 50,000+ people who see these deals and analysis every day — sign up to receive posts by email (just one e-mail per day) or subscribe to the RSS feed. It’s free. You can also follow me on Twitter for the latest deals. Don’t miss out!
I’m guessing you just register w/your AA email for the 100 miles?
This info is always helpful to keep miles expired.
Gary — any info on what happened to the rates that still allowed elite bennies? I sent them an email in December and only heard crickets. Another email in January, still crickets. I do not like crickets and makes me ponder what kind of customer service they have for the rest of their “operation”.
Too much of an hotel elite whore to book non-elite earning rezzies…
@GringoLoco there were issues with the system providing those rates, Points.com acquired them and is working on a new longer term solution but not close to a return last I heard.
eeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwww — points.com! Well that pretty much explains everything! 😉
confused – clicked the link and entered email address and created password- it said i earned the 100 miles but it never asked for my AAdvantage number???
@shaun I went to “My Account” after signing up to enter my AAdvantage account details, but have sent them an e-mail to verify the 100 miles will be added, just in case
