Last week Harrison Ford piloted his plane… badly. He landed on a taxiway at Orange County airport instead of the runway.
Air traffic controllers cleared Ford, who was piloting a single-engine Aviat Husky, to land on runway 20-L at the airport and Ford correctly read back the clearance, the source said.
Ford then landed on a taxiway that runs parallel to the runway and flew over a Boeing 737.
An air traffic control recording captured Ford asking “Was that airliner meant to be underneath me?”
The 737 was American Airlines flight AA1456 to Dallas.
There’s now video of the incident, via the all-knowing all-seeing TMZ:

His license should have been pulled 2 years ago after his last “accident”….
I guess he’ll have to get someone killed for it to happen ;(
Clearly pilot error on Ford’s part. In his defense, he may have been concentrating on steering clear of the Southwest 737 that was about to roll on 20R. Those runways are awfully close together. It looks like Ford is maintaining a fine slip to stay on the runway heading while countering a slight crosswind from the right. .
Been there. But I would have told the tower I was going to skip the landing and would come back around and try again. When in doubt stay up until you are comfortable with your path.
