Who Wants a Free $2500 Stay in Bali?

Bali is one of my favorite relaxing places in the world. I go to the Maldives often, but it can be tough to get to and tough to get awards to. When folks come to me looking for French Polynesia and can’t find awards I’ll often suggest Bali.

It’s an interesting place with good food, cultural activities, and some of the world’s friendliest people. And there’s fantastic luxury accommodations available at reasonable prices for those spending US dollars.

Viceroy Bali is a family-owned resort with just 25 private pool villas. It’s in the artistic region of Ubud, so a nice departure from the more sterile Nusa Dua area of Westernized resorts. It’s a TripAdvisor 5-star and 2016 Travelers Choice award winner. I’ve seen very few properties with reviews this good. In fact, It’s TripAdvisor’s #11 of top 25 luxury hotels in the world.

And I’m going to give away a couple of nights there, with some fantastic inclusions, thanks to Luxury Travel Diary.

Luxury Travel Diary is a high-end travel blog with great reviews based in the UK that has a bunch of travel auctions with real bargains.

As I’ve said before, folks who already know about these auctions don’t like this added attention, because there don’t seem to be enough bidders relative to the value of the offerings and some of these items go way too cheap.

Seriously, a hotel night in the Maldives for an auction ending in about 8 hours going for 28 British pounds as of this writing…

Luxury Travel Diary wanted to highlight some of their deals, and offered to help organize a giveaway of a 2 night hotel stay at the Viceroy in Bali.

What’s included?

  • 2 night stay in a Garden Villa for 2 people
  • Roundtrip airport transfers
  • Daily breakfast
  • One candlelit dinner for 2
  • One couples spa treatment for 2

The hotel lists the value at $2500. It’s being given away by the hotel and Luxury Travel Diary, I’m just helping to highlight it and randomly select the winner. The stay can be taken through July 14, 2017 with July 15-30 and December 20-January 6 excluded.

To enter: leave a comment on this post with your favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary, or why you would choose to stay at Viceroy Bali. You may enter two times if you wish and answer those two questions one time each in separate comments.

Contest deadline and drawing winner: Entries close Friday, March 4 at Noon eastern. I will draw winner with the assistance of random.org.

The fine print: Advance booking is required and it’s subject to availability. Terms and conditions apply.

For avoidance of doubt, I have no affiliation with Luxury Travel Diary or Viceroy Bali. I am not getting anything in exchange for running this giveaway other than an opportunity to share the place with readers.

I will put the winner in touch with the hotel for booking. They are solely responsible for providing prize to winner. All decisions made in the course of running this giveaway are final and unappealable and your entry signifies your acceptance. The goal here is to make readers aware of a pretty cool auction opportunity, and to give away a stay. So please don’t make it hard on me for doing so!

You probably won’t fly to Bali and back for a 2 night stay, though you might add onto it and do other things in the region and it’s a great opportunity to spend American AAdvantage miles at just 55,000 miles each way in business class or 67,500 in first class before the March 22 devaluation.

  1. Would love to stay at Viceroy as I really need a vacation and to get away from the stress of law school.

  2. Auction I’d like – 4 Nights At A Countryside Gîte In South Charente, France. That looks like a great getaway to French wine country.

  3. Ah been dreaming of visiting Bali for so long. So confused about where to stay. Viceroy seems like a perfect option

  4. I think the week for 4 in an apartment on the Danube in Budapest would be fabulous. Budapest is a great city – lots to do!
As for the Viceroy – from what I have seen (never been to Bali) this would be the resort my wife and I would really love. Seems to have it all – location, service, rooms, views, weather, fantastic pools!
    I’m ready!!!

  5. Why the Viceroy Bali? Because family owned/operated beats the impersonal corporate behemoths any day. And the heliport seems cool too.

  6. My favourite auction item is 3 Days Of Tours & 5 Nights At BnB Playa Del Carmen, Mexico – enough relaxation mixed in with activity.

  7. I would choose to stay at the Viceroy because it’s a tranquil setting away from the main tourist drag.

  8. My wife and I always loved SEA region, beautiful beaches and many luxury hotels! Really looking forward at bidding on these awesome auctions.

  9. The Viceroy Bali’s pool villas look amazing! Planning to get married this year in Bali, and was looking at just the Conrad there, but now I gotta look into here instead!

  10. Hi Gary,
We love the tips we get from reading your blogs, and we’d love to win the trip to the Viceroy in Bali. We’d probably do just as you recommended and add on some days and upgrade to Business Class. Even if we don’t win, thanks for all the great tips you give all of us out here, all the time!
    Regards,
    Tim

  11. And Viceroy Bali? That’s gotta be on every travelers bucket list! Would be amazing to spend some time there.

  12. Would love to stay in Bali at the Viceroy so that I can get all of the Wife points in the world for our babymoon! Help me Gary!

  13. That week or so long stay in Croatia (officially titled 7 Nights At Apartment Green In In Šibenik, Croatia) looks lovely. Have always wanted to go back after seeing it very, very briefly on a family cruise many years ago.

  14. I would love to visit Bali. In fact, we are going this July for the beautiful beaches. Would be great to enhance our visit with a stay at the Viceroy.

  16. I’d love to stay at the Viceroy Bali – it seems the perfect relaxing getaway away from the touristy area of Nusa Dua.

  17. My favorite Luxury Travel Diary auction item is the 6 night stay near Avignon, South France. The South of France is one of the best kept travel secrets, in my opinion. The South of France is not about glamour like Paris and a 6 night stay in the country side would be the perfect spring retreat.

  18. My favorite item for auction on Luxury Travel Diary is the “A Week for 4 in An Apartment on the Danube in Budapest.” I was just thinking today how I really enjoyed visiting Budapest and would love to go back for an extended stay. The apartment for auction is in Buda (district 1), so that’d be perfect!

  19. A 2 night stay at the gorgeous Viceroy in Bali seems like either the perfect starting point or a relaxing ending destination to a Polynesian holiday. Who wouldn’t want to win this great prize?!?!

  20. My favorite auction item is the three nights at the Grand Hyatt Doha in Qatar. Would love to visit there.
