New and notes from around the interweb:
- Marriott carries insurance which has been covering costs associated with their major data breach. However they’re facing a European GDPR fine of ~ $123 million and have taken a $126 million charge against earnings (WSJ).
- Gulf Air says an improved product has passenger numbers up year-over-year. Strange concept in the airline industry.
- Giant grocery stores are introducing a new loyalty program
- United’s flight attendant app now sorts first class meal preferences in the following order:
- Global Services and 1K elites
- All other paid and award passengers front to back
- Positive space nonrevs
- Pass riders
- Global Services and 1K elites
- Venezuela and Uruguay have issued U.S. travel warnings after this past weekend’s mass shootings
- Leaked Delta memo: Dropping GoJet and Compass as Delta Connection partners
- Just like Obi Wan Kenobi telling Luke Skywalker his father was dead, rather than living under the name Darth Vader, Delta once again claims that US News named SkyMiles a best rewards program. U.S. News listed them as being worse than Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan, they didn’t ‘win’ anything. What Delta claims is (sort of) true, from a certain point of view.
What a joke. Everyone who had the money or ability to leave Venezuela did so long ago. The idea that anyone standing in a 4-hour line to get a roll of toilet paper was planning a vacation in NYC is absurd.
