Useful: Interactive Chart Showing All The Coronavirus Travel Restrictions In The World

IATA, the world airline trade association, has an interactive chart you can click through to see the current COVID-19 travel restrictions that each country has in place. I’ve definitely bookmarked it.

It appears IATA does not have current restriction details for Syria, Yemen, Libya or Niger – and they have a blank for the Palestinian territory (though since the bombing of the Yasser Arafat International Airport control tower in 2000 there hasn’t been a commercial airport in there).

While I had been under the impression that every country in the world had imposed COVID-related travel restrictions of some kind, IATA suggests that there are no current coronavirus restrictions at all for entering Mexico or Serbia. (Some countries like Belarus permit unrestricted transit and ask arriving passengers to quarantine, but there aren’t additional limits on entry.)

This will be a useful resource as countries begin to open. Although I have to chuckle at the backflips everyone goes through not to offend China. Taiwan isn’t listed as a country. Indeed, despite fewer than 450 confirmed cases and just 7 deaths in a population of over 20 million they are listed as “Chinese Taipei.”

  1. Interesting resource…thanks!

PS What’s the difference between bookmarking something and “definitely” bookmarking something?

  2. Taiwan is an independent nation, full stop Everybody knows that, though some pretend otherwise.

  3. And Micornesia, Palau, Tonga, Cook Islands and other island nations like Maldives are not listed here. They don’t even show up on the map…

  4. it is a travel post, not politics, if you don’t like China policy then don’t go there, or if you show up and becoming persona non grata period. second, despite ongoing Racial tension here, the Hypocrisy of the US government policy on HK toward China is so visible. you White folks have no leg to stand on moral high ground when your own government engaged in brutal abuse of human lives and soon military troops to take down protesters. it seems your white privilege also includes sticking your nose in other sovereign state businesses when in fact your own house is burning to the ground caused by centuries of White abuse. do you see your own Hypocrisy or your skin so thick that you have no shame?

  5. long time lurker. been thinking about a one stop place to find this info. many thanks for posting this resource.

  6. @Pho tastee – I don’t like China’s policy, so I won’t got there. Luckily though Taiwan isn’t China, so I’ll go there instead.

  7. Mexico does have travel restrictions. Don’t know why the IATA hasn’t included them. Supposedly, only citizens, permanent residents, and others with essential business are being allowed into the country. My husband and I are both residents of Mexico, and he was allowed to cross back in because he has a permanent residence card. I, on the other hand, have only a temporary residence card (5 year residence) and I am not allowed to return. However, Interjet and Volaris, both international airlines of Mexico, are sending me emails stating that they are resuming international flights either the end of June or beginning of July.

Your uninspired rant, including the tired use of whataboutism, spewing the same old RACIST “white colonialism” excuse, and telling Gary to “stay out of China’s internal affairs” are the same old trick plays from the Chinese 50 cent army WUMAO playbook. You and your fellow CCP bootlickers give the Chinese people a bad name and is the main reason why some overseas Chinese experience racism. Get out you Communist Bandit!

  9. This shameless weak sister lapdog from WHO should be sacked. The Canadian govt has recalled him to Ottawa for consultations. He’s an embarrassment to the (ex China) world community.

  10. So basically this map tells me there isn’t really anywhere worth going at this point for international travel. Mexico is swell if you want to go and get infected. The situation is out of control there. Hopefully stupid american tourists don’t rush to mexico and bring back more cases.

  11. @Mke
    Spot on re: Pho tastee
(Slight correction- Chinese Communist Party troll cave)

  12. KimmieA-That’s for land border crossings. Outside of the State Dept. travel advisory warnings re. International Travel, I don’t believe there are restrictions on AIR travel and entry.

  13. I do not like maps without legends! Nothing tells me the values. Also, where are the sources?

  14. @Katie Bond – you click onto each country for details, source is TIMATIC which is what airlines use e.g. at the airport
