American Express plans to open a new Centurion lounge at Washington National airport at the end of 2022. It will be at the southern end of the B concourse, and by the time it opens B, B/C and C will all be connected post-security through a combined checkpoint (“Project Journey”).
The lounge will be 11,500 square feet. The lounge will offer shower suites and “floor-to-ceiling windows will offer airfield views ”
Tuned into the #MWAA board meeting (because I miss travel) just in time to see the announcement that Amex will build a Centurion Lounge at National Airport, at the southern end of the B concourse. Coming by the end of 2022. pic.twitter.com/5esev1X8ka

This Centurion lounge should become American Express’ 16th, opening after London Heathrow which is expected later 2021.
I hope it’s large enough to handle what I expect to be a crowd. 🙂
Eh, thanks but no thanks. The AMEX clubs are conceptually attractive, but every time I’ve ever set foot in one I swear it has taken years off my life from dealing with the chaos. I’ll stick to the old PMUS club where I can get work done.
Gary- any way you can inquire with your AMEX contacts / update us sometime on the status of Centurion Lounge efforts at ORD? I heard space was a consideration but not sure if they were trying to work through these issues. Appreciate your informative blog!
The DCA lounge may end up being the most crowded of the Centurion lounges I’ve used repeatedly, and likely to show in that way on many a Thursday.
