News and notes from around the interweb:
- What goes into re-opening a hotel that was closed for the pandemic
- Why airplanes make people amorous
- United introducing amenity kits for premium passengers on Hawaii flights starting June 16.
Hey @SouthwestAir. Looks like @united is on to you. The major carrier has embarked on a ‘Win Hawaii’ campaign. The gist? @united wants to be your go-to premium choice to the islands. If you buy biz class, you’ll even get an amenity kit. pic.twitter.com/RAGWASoCVr

- Yield Street offering $500 for depositing $10,000 with them for 60 days just leave the money in their FDIC insured account. (HT: Miles Earn and Burn)
- Fascinating piece on the head of Swire Pacific, a Swire family member, leaving Hong Kong for London all of the turmoil with China aside, I’m not sure I’d leave a job where I got to call myself “taipan” (FT)
- The never-completed Andaz Palm Springs will become a Thompson Hotel and hopefully open in 2022
- American Airlines drops publication of American Way inflight magazine, following Delta’s decision a year ago and Southwest as well. United still has Hemispheres (from the same outsourced publisher) which used to be worth it for the “Three Perfect Days” feature.
American’s magazine hasn’t been very good since they outsourced it in 2015. So much for the plan for AAL to shutter the passenger business and focus on their core magazine publishing efforts.
Do you mean Tai Pan rather than Taipei?
@Christian – typo corrected thank you
