- London Gatwick to British Airways – fly to the airport or lose your slots takeoffs and lands shouldn’t be perpetual property rights granted free in perpetuity. BA should have to bid to retain its slots regardless of whether it schedules flights.
Airports concessions and restaurants are all about maximizing revenue. They charge well above similar costs outside of the airport while paying the lowest cost possible to staff and management that are the face of their businesses at the airport. They can’t hire because people are a) being paid more to stay home in benefits b) refuse to increase wage to attract a better caliber of worker c) don’t really care because air travelers are a captive audience at airport
