News and notes from around the interweb:
- Cathay Pacific’s new first class on the Boeing 777-9 will be called “Halo Suites” though we’ve only seen concepts they’re playing with for it. Their new business class will be the “Aria Suite”.
- Tom Brady shilled for crypto scam FTX and for Delta Air Lines so should it really be any surprise to see him hawking Hertz? Which of the three brands is scammiest? (HT: Paul H)
- It’s interesting that United CEO Scott Kirby has been talking up that nearly all airline revenue growth and profit is coming from his carrier and Delta, while the U.S. Department of Justice has focused anti-trust enforcement on American, JetBlue and Spirit. It’s almost as if the U.S. government wants to ensure that all revenue growth and profit remains with United and Delta.
- Amtrak will reduce its usual fare categories from three to two
- Qantas will allow passengers to pay for an empty middle seat next to them close to departure, but the airline will still try to sell the seat to another passenger and if they’re successful will refund the empty middle fee.
The Department of Just Us at its finest.
The Qantas middle-seat scheme sounds like some future elite benefit on US carriers.
As for the people trying to film the new “Amtrak SnowPlow Vehicle,” did no one think that it might be just a tad dangerous, as in AVaLANCHE???
