News and notes from around the interweb:
- Owner of an Airbnb stuck with $38,000 cleanup cost for fentanyl and meth and the site won’t help.
[T]hey were in the carport and started urinating on their own vehicle, which was alarming. Probably an hour and a half to two hours later, one of them left and came back — and when they arrived, I thought he hit that wall. But he did hit the front wall and pinned the trash can against the wall.
I guess if the Airbnb were in Northern California they could just sell it…

Just paid over $4 for a pack of gum at @LGAairport. A reminder that @PANYNJ has an airport street pricing policy that they claim to enforce but won’t disclose how in public record requests, because they’re a corrupt, unaccountable agency that lies to the public. pic.twitter.com/Z5LwmNk1DE

- Delta is so old school the dot matrix printer at the gate is still printing tickets for the Wright brothers.
@delta soaring into the 80’s here in the ATL. Had to go see for myself as I thought my ears were playing tricks on me with the unmistakable rhythm of a dot matrix printer pounding out page after page of fan folded connected sheets for the attendant. pic.twitter.com/JufzD7CrLj

- Why JetBlue wants to fly to Dublin they’re getting in before the airport passenger cap.
- Several readers recently argued with me that airlines now only accept real service animals, not ’emotional support animals’. I explained that circumventing pet in cabin rules only requires filling out paperwork, and saying yeah sure it’s a service animal.
Another totally legit service dog!

If dumb asses like you continue to pay $4 for a pack of gum yet complain to strangers on the internet about it, why would/should they change it? Have some self restraint and just say no…
Wow. If there’s anything that may reduce the glut of residential homes purchased only for AirBnb short-term rental, the potential abuse for drug manufacture – and owner liability for cleanup – is it.
We heard about an owner of an airbnb that had a crew come in and cook meth during their stay. Apparently, they were on someone else’s turf because six people entered the home and killed two of them during a gun battle. The owner of the property (and Airbnb) is being sued by the family of the people cooking meth in their house for not providing sufficient security (for their drug operation)
I apologize in advance for my ignorance, but in the comments section after name and email we are asked to indicate a website. What website are you asking for? Sorry, but I finally decided to ask.
@John: You don’t have to provide a website. The asterisk (*) indicates which pieces of information are required.
I’m waiting for drug manufacturing to occur in the hotel units that the government is renting for the homeless. That will create some interesting lawsuits.
John, The web site is used to populate the picture icon at the top left of the comment, presumable the website thumbnail that shows up in the browser tab. If you don’t have a website, or a thumbnail icon for the website, it’s safe to leave it blank.
Delta’s dot matrix printers are premium models, not like the laser junk at UA and AA
I hate dogs on planes, stores, grocery stores, clothing stores. So i have a dog whistle use it when needed. Service animals do not need to go shopping, out to dinner or on holiday.
@tomri that is probably illegal to use to agitate a service animal.
@ jns. Perhaps but what is not legal in all 50 states is ANY pet (even service dogs) being placed in grocery store carts or on seats and tables at restaurants. All service dogs, the only dogs allowed inside food stores, MUST be on the ground. Every airline that I’m aware of does NOT allow animals, even real service dogs, to occupy a passenger seat. They must be kept on the floor or in a pet carrier.
@ Tym Dunn. Now that’s funny! You win the comment of the day.
Dot matrix printers are still used in environments where you need to print carbon copies.
