News and notes from around the interweb:
- Airline flies to wrong airport in Nigeria, denies it claiming ‘we meant to do that’, the pilot admitted being given the wrong flight plan (and getting confused?) while the airline insists it was a weather diversion.
This is the Nigerian airline, by the way, that just got permission to fly to the United States and is being courted by the Governor of Texas despite only flying regional jets and the trip distance being over 6,000 miles.
Nigeria my country. We departed Lagos about an hour ago on @flyunitedng to Abuja, and upon arrival, the cabin crew confidently announced that we've arrived Abuja, only for us to realize that we landed in Asaba. Apparently, our pilot was given wrong flight plan from Lagos ♂️ pic.twitter.com/Qv4zepDiVF

- It appears that ANA has suspended redemptions on Philippine Airlines between the U.S. and Manila, effective November 6. Since Etihad no longer partners with PAL, there don’t appear to be good redemption options with them any longer, which is a shame because their seats are usually available.

- New Analogic scanners at TSA checkpoints don’t allow oversized bags, so you can’t bring those bags that have to be checked to the gate in order to gate check them for free.
- It’s now possible to redeem Flying Blue points for Etihad flights though American AAdvantage redemptions remain cheaper for long haul

- Delta was great about cleaning planes during the pandemic. That was something I’d hoped we would keep. Alas.
Ewwww. Lol. Guess they don't vacuum the fallen crumbs….ever? ♂️ @Delta pic.twitter.com/nmELJimCWJ

Since the Analogic scanners will be coming everywhere sooner or later, it would be nice if someone published the maximum size of a bag that can fit in their scanner bins.
HPN and HVN (Westchester/ White Plains and New Haven) would sometimes have the same issue. It was funny when it made the local news back in the day.
Well the size is hard to say, the spec will allow a 16.5″H x 24.4″W bag to pass through, but they probably have a entrance guard that is smaller as the airlines restrict carry on to smaller sizes than that.
Had that new scanner at Atl. Took longer for stuff to get thru than the old one. Not impressed
It takes lots LONGER to have your carry-on bags processed with these new scanners?? next up date maybe make the opening bigger and the scanning faster!!
This never happens with SAN/SNA!
What happened to the ANA partnership with PAL? I thought ANA had a 9.5% stake in PAL.

Is this because of UA’s SFO-MNL service?
Wow, the fact that Philippine Airlines no longer allows redemptions on ANA deserves an entire post on its own! I fly between the US and Asia almost every month, using ANA to book PAL business class (only 95k roundtrip), and I have upcoming bookings next year too… not sure if that means I won’t be able to change the dates of those flights.
