Amazing Luxury Auction Deals You Can Steal, and Giving Away a 3 Night Suite Stay in New York!

Luxury Travel Diary, a high-end travel blog with great reviews based in the UK, has a bunch of travel auctions — some about to close, others extend into October — and there look to be some real bargains.

They wanted to highlight some of these, and offered to help organize a giveaway of a 3 night hotel stay in a suite at a top property in New York for readers of this blog. Details on how to comment on this post to win below.

I suppose that folks who already know about these auctions won’t like the added attention, because frankly there aren’t enough bidders relative to the value of the offerings and some of these items go too cheap.

Here’s an auction ending in 3 days for a private jet flight between New York and California – a transcon – going for 1000 British pounds as of this writing. There’s no minimum/reserve price, which is ridiculous.

Or 3 nights in St. Barts for 103 pounds as I write this:

There’s page after page of auctions to scroll through, generally nice places that appear to be selling for less than they should.

Prize: a three-night stay in a terrace suite at The William New York – subject to availability with no blackouts.

The property is currently rated 11 out of 189 ‘specialty lodging’ options on TripAdvisor, with 4.5 stars.

The William is a modern extended stay hotel located near Bryant Park in Manhattan. Stay for a month or more and be immersed in a lifestyle localized in culture, yet tailored in service. Thoughtfully crafted for our discerning clientele, The William features thirty-three guest suites that leave no detail unexplored.

These reviews look pretty typical:

To enter: leave a comment on this post with your favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary, or why you would choose to stay at The William over other hotels in New York. You may enter two times if you wish and answer those two questions one time each in separate comments.

Contest deadline and drawing winner: Entries close Friday, October 2 at Noon eastern. I will draw winner with the assistance of random.org.

The fine print: For avoidance of doubt I have no affiliation with either Luxury Travel Diary or The William hotel. I will put the winner in touch with the hotel for booking. They are solely responsible for providing prize to winner. All decisions made in the course of running this giveaway are final and unappealable and your entry signifies your acceptance. The goal here is to make readers aware of a pretty cool auction opportunity, and to give away a suite stay in New York. So please don’t make it hard on me for doing so!

  1. Of the items in the auction, the stay at the Andaz is probably what I am most likely to use… so I guess that’s best!

  2. The 2-night weekend stay at the Park Hyatt in Buenos Aires. Been dying to go to BA (the Paris of South America), and Park Hyatt’s are incredible properties!

  3. Hard to beat a private jet flight, as auction items go. Would love the NYC suite because its the hardest hotel market I’m the USA to find good value in.

  4. I’d stay at the William because of the cool looking retro furniture. (Also wife’s birthday coming up)

  5. It has got to be the Private Jet. I realize that first is always the best way to go, but tell me what domestic carrier is that good. I’ve flown first on both AA and Delta, and I fly Hawaiian all the time, but there is NO comparison to the International airlines. This would be the ultimate! It’s on the top of my bucket list. Right now it’s 1500 pounds. I am seriously thinking of bidding. The plane flies 8 passengers, at this rate its cheaper than flying coach 🙂

  6. The William looks like it’s in a fantastic location, centrally located to lots of different spots in Manhattan.

  7. As for the auctions, the private jet does sound fantastic! But I’d probably bid on something cheaper like the Andaz 5th Avenue.

  8. I would love to stay at the hotel since it’s just a stone’s throw from Broadway and Madison Square Garden. A lot of entertaining night can be had so close to the hotel.

  9. I would save my favorite auction item is the 5 Nights At John F In Berlin, I stayed there before and it was an amazing place to stay while on vacation.

  10. As a scholar, I’d choose the William for its convenience to the greatest library in the world–The New York Public Library!

  11. I’d stay at the William because it’s close to Bryant park which means it’s right in the middle of everything.

  12. I’m looking for any good deal in NYC, so the auction for the 2-night Andaz stay looks great.

  13. I love the 7 days in Scotland!

I would love to make the trip there someday, and taste the scotch firsthand.

  14. The two nights at “instants d’Absolu” Ecolodge & Spa in Chavagnac/Auvergne, France, looks tempting, may just have to bid …

  15. I’d stay at the William because of its chic retro look… and I’d love to find out if that couch in the picture is comfortable!
