Amazing Luxury Auction Deals You Can Steal, and Giving Away a 3 Night Suite Stay in New York!

Luxury Travel Diary, a high-end travel blog with great reviews based in the UK, has a bunch of travel auctions — some about to close, others extend into October — and there look to be some real bargains.

They wanted to highlight some of these, and offered to help organize a giveaway of a 3 night hotel stay in a suite at a top property in New York for readers of this blog. Details on how to comment on this post to win below.

I suppose that folks who already know about these auctions won’t like the added attention, because frankly there aren’t enough bidders relative to the value of the offerings and some of these items go too cheap.

Here’s an auction ending in 3 days for a private jet flight between New York and California – a transcon – going for 1000 British pounds as of this writing. There’s no minimum/reserve price, which is ridiculous.

Or 3 nights in St. Barts for 103 pounds as I write this:

There’s page after page of auctions to scroll through, generally nice places that appear to be selling for less than they should.

Prize: a three-night stay in a terrace suite at The William New York – subject to availability with no blackouts.

The property is currently rated 11 out of 189 ‘specialty lodging’ options on TripAdvisor, with 4.5 stars.

The William is a modern extended stay hotel located near Bryant Park in Manhattan. Stay for a month or more and be immersed in a lifestyle localized in culture, yet tailored in service. Thoughtfully crafted for our discerning clientele, The William features thirty-three guest suites that leave no detail unexplored.

These reviews look pretty typical:

To enter: leave a comment on this post with your favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary, or why you would choose to stay at The William over other hotels in New York. You may enter two times if you wish and answer those two questions one time each in separate comments.

Contest deadline and drawing winner: Entries close Friday, October 2 at Noon eastern. I will draw winner with the assistance of random.org.

The fine print: For avoidance of doubt I have no affiliation with either Luxury Travel Diary or The William hotel. I will put the winner in touch with the hotel for booking. They are solely responsible for providing prize to winner. All decisions made in the course of running this giveaway are final and unappealable and your entry signifies your acceptance. The goal here is to make readers aware of a pretty cool auction opportunity, and to give away a suite stay in New York. So please don’t make it hard on me for doing so!

  1. The William seems to offer the best of both worlds: part hotel and part apartment. Perfect for New York!

  2. I would chose to stay at The William over other hotels because it has a great location and looks modern and chic.

  3. 2 nights at The Grand Hotel Punta del Este, Uruguay! I’ve been wanting to go to Uruguay. Winning this might be the reason 🙂

  4. I’ll be in NYC for 3 nights in Jan 2016 and the location of the hotel looks perfect for my trip. Also, pics of hotel look modern and clean. Hope I win!

  5. I would choose to stay at The William over other hotels in NYC due to it’s ideal location for visiting the Reading Room at the NY Public Library as well as it’s vicinity to the 7 train, which was recently expanded to 34th Street on the West Side adjacent to the High Line.

  6. As a Christmas gift to ourselves, my best friend and I are planning a trip to New York City without our husbands. The location and the amenities at The William sound perfect for us!

  7. The 7 night stay at Jannah Burj Al Sarab in Abu Dhabi! Sounds like it’s time to check my airline points and plan a trip!

  8. 2 NIGHTS AT SHAWNEE INN looks great – a great old hotel not too far from home and a great price (hopefully).

  9. This may be like eBay, with last minute bidders driving it way up.

I wonder what some of these actually close at?

    any ideas?

  10. My favorite thing up for action right now is the cottage on Kauai (currently at £50). Would love to get the winning bid! Thanks for this info!

  11. I would pick The William for two reason. One, for the location alone. Secondly for the fact that you feel like you’re in a home feather than some corporate planed hotel chain. It’s individuality stands it apart from the rest.

  12. The William is located right next to Bryant Park in NY, which turns into a veritable winter wonderland and it would be marvelous to stay that close by.

  13. The William looks to be an excellent property, with apartment-like amenities that can make business or leisure travel all the more comfortable 🙂

  14. Three nights at the Rose Cottage in St. Andrews so I could surprise my husband with a trip he just can’t find time to make happen on his own. And, I would try The Williams just to be different – stayed in too many cookie cutter places in NYC because they were cheaper than the fancy brands and, when there, don’t spend much time in the room anyway.

  15. The minute suites offering looks interesting. I am tempted to bid on it and check them out next time in PHL.

  16. The 2 Nights At Villa La Tosca 5-Star Villa Hotel In France looks like an amazing property that would make for a great trip to France!

  17. The William is in a great location near Bryant Park and always great to have apartment like amenities when traveling

  18. After looking at even more auction items, I still like the Rose cottage at St. Andrews. Though a private flight would be cool given I’ve never had an opportunity to do that!

  19. I’d choose to stay at The William over other hotels in NY because 1. the swanky decor 2. the location is pretty darn great and 3. there’s free nights up for grabs in this contest.

  20. The William has a perfect 5-star review from Google, a great Midtown location, restaurants, and rooms that provide comfort and styles. Seems like the perfect NYC hotel to me. And, it’s a former brownstone, to boot!

  21. My fav auction is the Hyatt Andaz Xintiandi in Shanghai because the bid is still low now compare to its value. Keep it low please.

  22. Wow, the aesthetic of The William is so modern and clean without looking too ‘hotel-like.’ Looks like the best mix of a hotel and modern AirBnB. Love it!

  23. My favorite auction is the Rue Cler Bijou Paris apartment. I’ll take any excuse to return to Paris!

  24. I would choose to stay at the William for its location and to experience what other people have shared in their reviews! I love the positivity.

  25. I would choose to stay at The William in NYC to enjoy its fabulous location combined with its fine design. It looks like the place to be in NYC for an extended stay in the city.

  26. What a tough auction choice! I’m actually bidding on several items now on that website as a result of this post. My favorite would be the 6 nights for 6 at Schwari Watamu Villa in Kenya.

  27. I am hoping to successfully bid on The Charles Hotel in Munich for an upcoming trip in December to see the Christmas Markets!
