American Airlines Passenger Appears To Snort Coke At His Seat While Others Watch

An American Airlines passenger was captured on video appearing to stick a small spoon into a container of white powder and then inhaling it – right at his seat – while other passengers watched.

It’s hard to imagine why a person would want to become more alert while seated in American’s domestic coach product? Fortunately it doesn’t seem that the man’s behavior became a problem, as the person sharing the video didn’t note any conflicts on board which followed.

Airports and airplanes are a lawless place. 💀

Among the first reactions to the video was someone who complains, “They got my sealed jar of blueberry preserves from Maine, but this guy gets coke through.” While the man isn’t snorting a liquid you’d think that white powdery substances would trigger alarm bells at a security checkpoint.

Meanwhile one commenter, who identifies as an American Airlines top tier Executive Platinum member offers that this happened “[o]n a 319, kinda hard to blame him.”

  • American Airlines put new seats into the old US Airways Airbus A319s, and matched the legacy American Airlines configuration. But the old American 319s have seat back entertainment screens, while the US Airways ones do not. And even though they were retrofitting the interiors, they didn’t install bigger overhead bins. These planes also have Gogo’s slower 2Ku satellite internet, rather than ViaSat. It’s also configuration American installed when taking delivery of used Frontier Airlines planes.

  • However the experience isn’t nearly as bad on the old US Airways ‘basket of deplorables’ Airbus A320s. That, and American’s densest long haul economy cabins, are where you might go looking for ways to numb rather than intensify the experience.

You’d think he might wait until he’s in private, or at least use the lavatory? Personally I’d suggest saving the money on the coke and using it to upgrade to first class.

  1. I once while an airline station manager had to meet a flight from SJU with the FBI and DEA because somebody snorted a line off their tray table. For what it’s worth, it was really poor quality according to what the Agents told me later and they actually transported to hospital.

  2. In this era of cellphones and social media, nobody in their right–or wrong–mind is going to publicly snort coke in public, and have it recorded for all the world to see. The video shows the same kind of goofy stunt I would’ve pulled as an immature 15 year-old, trying to impress my friends with a plastic coffee spoon from McDonald’s and some powdered sugar.

  3. Kimmie. . .don’t be naïve, have you watch reality TV. . .people don’t care. I however seriously doubt it was coke. There are sniff-able and inhaled prescription drugs. I have done my Flonase on flights before. As for the A319 on AA, while I wish it did have an extra FC row, for 1 to 2 hours flight or getting to small Midwest towns better then an CRJ2!

  4. To be frank, if his behavior appeared unchanged after snorting, this was not cocaine. My bet would be on powdered alcohol. It’s the adult version of pretending to be “cool” by snorting powdered sugar (btw, this is actually a thing for oktoberfest — it’s called wiesn koks).

  5. Oh, I’m sure it’s just bee pollen like the stuff Ronald Reagan used to use.
No seriously, Nancy was all into that health $old stuff to keep Ronnie going.
I hear it’s all the rage!

  6. probably just embarrassed about his choice of shorts and had to go on a personal trip !

  7. I thought people just hit the delta-9 vape pen in the Admiral’s Club beathroom before departure.

  8. BillyJean got it right. My money is on Ketamine, which is prescribed more and more these days. I have ads for at home ketamine therapy on my instagram.

  9. Flonase – allergic rhinitis? Sinus pain? It could be anything.

If they have a proper doctor’s prescription, they should be ok.

  10. Working with people is the hardest thing. Not only do flight attendants have to deal with mental illness, anxiety, and aggression but need to have a certificate from the police academy to arrest people.
