American Re-Opening 7 More Admirals Clubs, Brings Back Avocado Toast and Guacamole

During the month of October American Airlines will re-open 7 more Admirals Clubs expanding beyond hub locations,

  • Austin Bergstrom International Airport (AUS)
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
  • Denver International Airport (DEN)
  • George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH)
  • Nashville International Airport (BNA)
  • Orlando International Airport (MCO)
  • San Francisco International Airport (SFO)

Starting October 1 morning avocado toast returns along with afternoon guacamole and chips in certain clubs, “prepared by lounge staff members wearing face coverings and gloves, behind protective acrylic screens at a safe social distance and served in disposable containers to reduce touchpoints between customers and team members.” These were suspended in March.

Former Avocado Toast Bar

Smashed spring pea toast, of course, is the new avocado toast – American just hasn’t gotten that memo.

In addition in October “cheese cubes, hummus, hard-boiled eggs and fruit” will return in a “pre-packaged and individually portioned” format. I genuinely do not know anyone who missed cheese cubes.

  1. LOL the touch points just don’t matter, try eating avocado toast with a mask on and then we will have fully solved indoor COVID transmission

  2. Staff wearing masks and gloves is one thing, but what about the potentially filthy fingers of the customers…an issue that pre-dates COVID…touching the serving utensils ? It used to be disgusting to see how some people used the buffet (…nearly all millennial males..), and while there may be a temporary improvement in manners, how long will it be before they return to old habits like finger-licking, eating while standing at the buffet/walking around, re-using utensils.

  3. I miss the cheese cubes very much. They’re great for low-carb diets and I usually put them in their soups to add protein and texture.

  4. Cheese cubes are great, who doesn’t like cheese? I especially love the pepperjack ones. The fat and protein are nice complements to the otherwise carb-heavy options we tend to get in low-cost buffet settings.
