- Jerry Glass is American Airlines’ labor negotiations consultant. He was interviewed on the Airlines Confidential podcast. He says that the four largest U.S. airlines won’t ever see a labor strike, because it takes so long to get there under the Railway Labor Act and they’re so big that a strike would be sufficiently disruptive to trigger a Presidential Emergency Board that leads to a report, cooling off period, and invariably a settlement. He’s certainly right that at American Airlines the flight attendants are in no position to strike.
