News and notes from around the interweb:
- IHG Hotels is offering double points on February and March stays registration is required, it’s worth registering, but not moving any stays to take advantage of. Worth noting that the bonus points count towards elite status which is being revamped.
- DIY Cocktails You Can Make In Airport Lounges
- Accor Live Limitless elite status fast track
- Building a single-stage-to-orbit space plane
- What NFTs and the Metaverse mean for airline loyalty programs Except there are use cases here that don’t require the blockchain at all (here’s a good way to this about what does). If you can build a feature just by interfacing with an existing loyalty database then the whole NFT thing is just a middle aged consultant selling a middle aged manager on ‘how to be relevant to kids today’.
- Guests share their experiences with a haunted Drury Plaza Hotel
- Former Dance Moms star is suing Santa Monica Hampton Inn for a door that fell over and trapped her in her wheelchair
- Will frequent flyer programs’ focus on environment pay dividends?
or you can just go to a lounge that has a competent bartender who will make the cocktail you want w/o dirtying a dozen cups and glasses and making a mess all over customer tables.
Love the post on the DIY cocktails. Thanks, Gary.
Cocktails! Space planes! NFTs! Ghosts!
What a morning!
Re: Cocktails in the lounge
1) Get a clean glass
2) Add ice
3) Fill 1/2 with Scotch
4) Fill the rest with club soda or sparkling water
Enjoy!
The airlines have been using NFTs for years. They are called record locators. Every single “offer” mentioned in the article could easily be done within the airline’s app and the person’s record locator.
Regarding the example about joining a NY dining club by buying an NFT, how about just going to the club’s web site and registering? It all sounds like someone’s trying way too hard to be hip. They ought to stick to collecting baseball cards.
Gary, I always enjoy your blurbs, but often wonder if you’re indulging in some of those cocktails when you click “Publish” before proofreading your pieces.
Your persistent typos take away from the veracity of the blog I fear.
Does anyone else know what I “ean?”
