Comment Here And You May Win a Briggs & Riley @work Bag

I’m a Briggs & Riley fan, my usual carry on is their Baseline CX bag. They’ve made a splash over the past month with a new bag, and I’ve arranged a giveaway.

As I explained last week, I have two different Briggs & Riley bags to give away (different bags for different reasons, they’ve “got your business and leisure covered” as it were).

Last week I gave away the hot new TORQ bag.

Of course Briggs & Riley is all about functional luggage, as much as I like the look of the new bags their bread and butter is the business market epitomized by their @work line.

Which of course comes with Briggs & Riley’s unrivaled lifetime guarantee.

Here’s how you can enter to win by commenting on this post. Given the strength of reputation for their guarantee, Answer the following question in the comments:

Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage?

Here are the rules:

  • You need to answer the above question in your comment to this blog to be entered.

  • You may enter up to once per day — and I give you a bit of slack in this, I won’t disqualify any entry as long as you don’t make more than one entry per calendar day or as long as no entry is closer than 24 hours together from another one. And if you’re close, we’re cool. I’m not looking to disqualify people, just to make sure there’s no massive ballot stuffing.

  • All entries (comments) must be received no later than Thursday, June 13 at Noon Eastern time.

  • I will draw a winner at random in the days following the close of the contest from those that meet these guidelines. Make sure you provide a valid e-mail address when entering to be eligible to win (you do not need to leave an email address in the comments, but along with your name where it asks for your email that email must be ‘real’ or I will have no way of contacting you).

  • The winner acknowledges that this is a prize and is not for resale.

  • I’m the final arbiter in all matters related to this contest and in all matters of interpretation. There is no appeal. I’m doing this because there’s an opportunity to send out a pretty cool high-end bag, and not taking anything in return, so please don’t give me a hard time in the process.

Any questions? E-mail me. And hopefully the winner will also follow up with me to let me know their impressions of the bag.

  1. I worry more about wandering hands than I do that my bag will bust open midflight …

  2. Yes, I worry about my luggage. Either that it will get damaged or that someone will try and steal something from it.

  3. Yes. My bag got gate checked. And then “lost”. It had a lot of electronics in it.

  4. I rarely check bags, so I do not “worry” about my luggage as it is usually in the overhead above me. I have a soft sided “duffel” looking bag with handle and wheels that I usually use, since this almost always allows me to avoid the last minute forced check of a bag that I used to get with a straight roller board bag.

  5. If it is out of sight for a period of time on plane/train/etc, i worry that someone is going to mistakenly take it.

  6. I’m worried of damage – baggage handlers aren’t exactly known to be careful.

  7. I worry about my luggage at check in, as anything can happen to it such as damage, theft or becoming lost.

  8. How could one not worry about their checked luggage? I’ve had bags delayed for both personal and business trips, so now I will dress more professionally for the flight and bring all my necessities aboard with my checked bags. I’m not too worried about the bags, they will hold up – I’ve even have a very poorly packed soft case come through with a completely smashed bottle of wine. The clothes for that trip were all ruined in a nice red color, but the bag just washed out and had been doing great…

So yeah, I guess I’m not worried about the luggage – as I’ve never lost anything – but I worry that it will not arrive to start the trip at the time that I want it to….

  9. Not at all. I buy bags for about $30 on amazon, so they’re essentially disposable if need be. (I need a new one about every 18 mos, with about 130k BIS miles per year.)

  10. I don’t worry too much unless its some special equipment like skis or backpacking equipment. Suitcases I generally feel good about

  11. I don’t worry if the luggage gets lost completely as I’m prepared to confront the airline and get a refund. I’m worried that they break the bag and claim they are not responsible as that has already happened. I don’t understand how an airline can have no responsibility for the bag’s wheels while the bag is in their possession – they actually managed to crack a wheel on my Victorinox while it was gate-checked for a short regional flight.

  12. I worry that it will break open and something embarassing will be spinning around the carousel.

  13. I worry that my luggage will be delayed, hence I carry on a day’s essentials. I worry that my bags will be damaged, at least the ones I take often.

It was nice to meet you at the LA FTU!

  14. Over the last 5 years we have had 2 suitcases damaged by airlines and 2 cases delayed for 2- 4 days, so yes I worry and try to only check bags on international flights.

  15. I worry that items in my baggage will mysteriously disappear as I had such experience with two MP3 players in my United checked luggage on flights from ORD to PEK …

  16. Of course I worry. Just the other day a strip of “protective” plastic fell off. Wish I had a no questions asked warranty.

  17. No. I have a surfeit of cheap bags for when I need to check one, which is rarely. And for when I don’t I have a pair of carryons both conveniently sized to fit under the seat so it doesn’t matter which one goes in the bin. (And they stack so I’m only pulling one handle through the airport.)

  18. Nope, I only worry that there won’t be bin space or they’re do stuffed for it to fit

  19. Yes, I worry..but, won’t do any good. When I check I make sure my carry-on backpack has most things I would need in case bags get lost. For the first time in a while my most recent trip AAL did damage my bag. It is now in Dallas getting fixed or not. If not then they say they will replace. Apparently they get two weeks – so should find out JUne 18.

  20. For me it’s a gamble With the odds slightly in my favor. In the last 6 trips that I’ve checked a bag twice the bag was damaged. No theft.

  21. YES! I do. I roll on with my bag as early as possible when boarding and always place above my seat. I hate letting go of it while on an RJ when I have to gate check. If I have to gate check I will zip up all the zippers and take off my hooks so as to keep all in tact as much as possible. When I am handing it off to the staff member who is responsible for taking it from jetbridge or planeside to the luggage compartment, I always make eye contact with them and thank them for taking care of my luggage. So far so good.

  22. Once I check in the bags, I don’t and cannot worry, because worrying doesn’t make a difference to what happens to the bags.
Before check-in, however, I take precautions because I have had luggage broken (mostly domestic flights, though) and rendered useless, and have had delayed luggage for nearly a week without compensation for anything but the value of a few new t-shirts.

  23. I use Costco bags, so I’m not too worried about them getting torn up. They are relatively cheap to replace. If I have to check a bag, I worry about them disappearing forever.

  24. I am always a bit concerned and anxious that my checked bag would turn up promptly and intact at my destination.

  25. Always. Though I try not to be too materialistic and overly sentimental about things, can’t completely avoid it, it happens.

  26. Yes – I have had bags that were lost completely and also luggage (and a cartop carrier that I paid extra for) that was trashed.

  27. Absolutely – I have watched the luggage be tossed around and dropped by the baggage handlers.
