I’m a Briggs & Riley fan, my usual carry on is their Baseline CX bag. They’ve made a splash over the past month with a new bag, and I’ve arranged a giveaway.
As I explained last week, I have two different Briggs & Riley bags to give away (different bags for different reasons, they’ve “got your business and leisure covered” as it were).
Last week I gave away the hot new TORQ bag.
Of course Briggs & Riley is all about functional luggage, as much as I like the look of the new bags their bread and butter is the business market epitomized by their @work line.
Which of course comes with Briggs & Riley’s unrivaled lifetime guarantee.
Here’s how you can enter to win by commenting on this post. Given the strength of reputation for their guarantee, Answer the following question in the comments:
- Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage?
Here are the rules:
- You need to answer the above question in your comment to this blog to be entered.
- You may enter up to once per day — and I give you a bit of slack in this, I won’t disqualify any entry as long as you don’t make more than one entry per calendar day or as long as no entry is closer than 24 hours together from another one. And if you’re close, we’re cool. I’m not looking to disqualify people, just to make sure there’s no massive ballot stuffing.
- All entries (comments) must be received no later than Thursday, June 13 at Noon Eastern time.
- I will draw a winner at random in the days following the close of the contest from those that meet these guidelines. Make sure you provide a valid e-mail address when entering to be eligible to win (you do not need to leave an email address in the comments, but along with your name where it asks for your email that email must be ‘real’ or I will have no way of contacting you).
- The winner acknowledges that this is a prize and is not for resale.
- I’m the final arbiter in all matters related to this contest and in all matters of interpretation. There is no appeal. I’m doing this because there’s an opportunity to send out a pretty cool high-end bag, and not taking anything in return, so please don’t give me a hard time in the process.
Any questions? E-mail me. And hopefully the winner will also follow up with me to let me know their impressions of the bag.

Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage?
When it is checked. Try to never pack anything of value in checked bags. Never know if it will it arrive on same flight, survive baggage handling, or have items taken out and not returned.
I am always concerned if my bag will show up on the carousel.
I worry that my bag will be peeled open like a sardine can somewhere in the bowels of the airport and all of my belongings will be lost.
I have concerns about things getting crushed (e.g. the screen on a tablet, or lens in sunglasses, etc.)
I never worry. I even check my laptop!
Nah, I don’t worry about it.
No, I don’t really worry about it. I trust they know what they’re doing.
No worries about my bag. It’s replaceable.
The quandary about spending a good bit of money on high quality luggage is that it will show up beaten and broken when it comes around on the carousel. I’m usually inclined to buy less expensive luggage sets and replace them more often when broken; this way, when they break I can blame it on cheap quality rather than being pissed at the airline.
I normally don’t worry about the bag itself but would always keep a scenario in mind–what if the checked bag get lost? How would I need to adjust to that with minimum disruption of my trip?
I definitely worry about my luggage. When it’s a larger bag and I go for the convenience of checking it, it’s out of sight but never out of mind. Actually, I’d say it’s on my mind doubly so for being out of sight!
Worry, but not too much. There are other things to worry about
I worry airport employees will see my dirty, worn luggage and think someone left them on the baggage carousel from 1955.
I’m usually not too worried, although more connections usually makes me worry more
Can’t say I worry about it, but it’s always a relief to see my checked bag show up on the carousel, especially if it’s one piece.
Yes, of course. Mostly just worried when I check my luggage and it gets lost on the way to my destination. If it gets lost on the trip back home, no worries.
No, I try to carry-on always.
Seasoned travelers know to carry the important things (jewelry, meds, chargers) in their carry-on baggage, but I do worry that my bag will one day come out of the baggage carousel broken, in a black bin, with all my unmentionables strewn about.
Because a lot of black luggage look similar, I worry that some other passenger will grab mine by mistake and take off before they realize their error.
No, I usually go with carryons only and have good luck when checking things in!
I’ve learned to always carry on!
Yes, that’s why I don’t check my Rimowa, only as carry-on.
Have had lots of checked luggage damaged. Definitely worried it will happen again!
Yes I do worry that my luggage got lost or stolen while traveling.
If I’m carrying on, no worries.
Yes, I worry the airline will lose my luggage or damage it.
No, I don’t worry.
Do I worry?…. Not really… But I have been caught on a long trip when my suitcase zipper broke!
Yes, that it will get lost — ha.
Yes, I worry something is going to happen to my luggage, so I travel with carry on whenever possible and avoid checked bags.
On a nonstop flight, I’m generally not concerned. But where I’m making a connection, especially involving a major hub and/or change of airline, I become increasingly concerned that my luggage will be lost.
I used to worry about it, but now I carry-on mostly so I don’t have to worry about it anymore (and more importantly, save time by not having to wait for my bags after landing).
Damaged – not really. Lost or mistakenly taken by another passenger (this has occurred to me) – yes.
I always worry when I check my luggage (i.e. long long-haul flights). The last time I visited Europe and Asia, my checked luggage was severely damaged. In addition, the airline policies significantly limit any liability for damage caused by their handlers, which gives them no incentive to take care of your luggage.
I don’t worry about the bag being stolen but do worry about the contents disappearing. That has happened to me on a UA flight.
Yup, I worry, especially when I check baggage.
I worry that the AA handlers in BOS will never manage to get in unloaded.
My suitcase ALWAYS gets hammered
Thrashed with a capitol T
Yes… but I worry about my present suitcase only about as far as I can throw it when fully packed – which is to say not far therefore not much worry. On the other hand if I had the Briggs & Reily bag I’d probably be all mother hen about it.
I worry about my current suitcase when I try to fit it in the overhead compartment (sometimes its a tight fit!). Would love a B&R Bag though!
I always worry something is going to happen to my luggage so I never check it. Carry on only no matter how long the trip.
Always worried it’ll get lost or broken in transit.
Never worry.
Don’t usually worry about the airline, but with all these black bags looking exactly the same, surprised mine hasn’t been taken accidentally yet.
I’ve always worried about it being left uncovered in a downpour.
Yes, worry about it getting damaged or worse, lost.
In for one 😉
I worried about the luggage being damaged. Esp if it’s damaged to the point that I have to buy a replacement in my destination (probably will have to spend more money).
Always worry about my bags, which is why I only carryon these days
Only worry that I won’t be allowed to take my (admittedly slightly oversized) bag onto the plane!
