Congresswoman Uses Police Escort to Skip Airport Line—Cuts In Front Of Disabled Passengers [Roundup]

News and notes from around the interweb:

  • And here Ted Cruz didn’t manage to get his airport escorts for politicians he’d tried to include in last year’s FAA reauthorization. She’s in a safe seat (didn’t even have a Republican challenger in 2024) and doesn’t need to worry about these optics.

I’d add that she’s a congresswoman from Dallas – and opts to fly Delta.

  • He Stripped in United Business Class To Europe—Blames Alcohol, His $1 Million Salary Is In Jeopardy The President of the Art Institute of Chicago is taking leave from his $1 million per year job after stripping off his clothes in United Airlines business class on flight 935 from Chicago to Munich April 18th. “[H]e drank alcohol and took prescription medication.”

  • GHA Discovery is offering triple rewards at Pan Pacific and PARKROYAL hotels. For Titanium members that’s a 21% rebate, since the triple is based on your total earn including elite bonuses, not just the program’s base earn (registration required). (HT: Milelion)

And the offer is stackable with the extra 5 Discovery Dollars for booking through their app, and with the current D$150 for four 2+ night stays at participating properties by 30 June 2025 (registration required).

Plus, registering for the triple earn promotion also gives you instant Gold status as well. Note that promotional Discovery Dollars expire after six months if unused.

  • When you have to get stuff done on a plane.

  • 27 abandoned aircraft to be removed from Manila’s airport who just leaves behind a 737…? I have to imagine that many are due for heavy maintenance or otherwise not airworthy, with owners facing costs that exceed the value of the airframe. And yet..!

  • This is the letter when MGM Resorts bans you.

  1. Oh no, this just gonna be a hate-fest, Gary. You must already know that… *sigh*

  2. Voters really need to get away from the TV and Newspapers during the Campaigns and start by reading about the people they vote for. This person has absolutely no interest in the Constituents in her District. She is a disgrace to her position.

  3. Crockett is a younger version of Maxine Waters. Dumb as rocks, yet full of hot air. Calling Elon dumb, is the tip of her idiocy. She will be a perfect running mate for AOC in 2028. You go girls.

  4. Just taking leave?

“The President of the Art Institute of Chicago is taking leave from his $1 million per year job after stripping off his clothes in United Airlines business class on flight 935 from Chicago to Munich April 18th.”

  5. So a person who is banned at MGM Resorts could possibly stay there as the spouse or friend of someone checking in and not have a problem as long as they didn’t spend any money there?

  6. She’s very typical of the politician swearing they fight for the underprivilege and the downtrodden. They’re all fakes and fakes can be found in both parties. Anyone that would put their entire trust in a politician, particularly one claiming to be for the “little people” is as dumb as that politicians hopes them to be.

  7. Art Institute of Chicago is probably rat payer supported. Would probably be out of business without it, and yet we have this clown banking over one million in salary.

  8. This post is trash . What does this have to do with aviation ? You’re trash for posting this or even making it a thing Gary . You knew exactly what you’re doing ? Creating more political divide .

  9. Wouldn’t she want to be last to board, not first, if she had any sense? Did she sit down in first class and then let people walk past filming her and heckling her?

  10. American you are so right, and it is a sad commentary on the average voter that advertising is so important in political campaigns. Bu this goes way back; “The Selling of the President, 1968” is an insider’s view of how Nixon was slickly packaged and presented. And it is getting worse. There are so many social media groups who can live in echo chambers while there are no longer a few middle of the road mainstream television channels that under the Fairness Doctrine often discussed issues in depth. So people can easily ignore facts in favor of slogans and rumors. Years ago I called my Representative’s office. He was a fairly liberal and respected member of Congress. I asked for a sheet giving his views on major issues and his philosophy of government. “We don’t have that,” his aide said. “Nobody every asked for it.”

  11. A smarter country would have their elected officials traveling primarily via government-owned Amtrak. And moving the capital to central Kansas to make it easier to do so.

  12. The Crockett story is disingenuous and you know it. She is being escorted by the police and it’s obvious that it’s the airlines choice to have her board first. She is waiting next to the line of wheelchairs and not being pushy or entitled in anyway. And then to throw in the bit that she’s not flying aa, like she should be obligated to fly it since she’s in Dfw shows your bias. Good for you, you got the right wing approval comments you were hoping for by posting this. Congrats

  13. @Coffee Please your comment about the Chicago Art Institute being “rat payer supported” got me curious. Looking at their fiscal year 2023 tax return form 990, surprisingly, not so much. Their total revenue was $359,509,602, but only $7,471,701 from government grants. So only 2%. There was another $44 million in other membership dues/contributions/grants that were probably tax deductible so that’s about another $10 million in taxpayer subsidies. So, I don’t think they would go out of business if they lost 5% of their budget. That’s probably their budget for educational outreach to public schools.

OK, that’s enough going down a rabbit hole for me this morning.

  14. Crockett should support her hometown airline. I’m sure she has voters in her district that work for AA. Then again she is an idiot and obviously doesn’t care.

  15. So many politicians, so much privilege. It’s not a good look to jump in front of everyone for no good reason. That said, we do not know of the GA told her to Broward first she they didn’t have to deal with her and her police entourage during boarding.

Regardless, still a bad look…kind of like when politicians flee their state during an ice storm that’s killing people in favor of the warm beaches of Cancun.
