News and notes from around the interweb:
- Delta accidentally boarded a flight with no crew on the aircraft Oops.
Boarded flight, no crew. No attendants, no pilots. About half full of passengers looking around wondering what’s going on (DL4119 SMF-LAX) about 10’ later, lone agent orders us off. Oddly, the smoothest boarding and deboarding I’ve seen in years
- Video of passenger threatening to break a United flight attendant’s neck after being told to end a phone call and put on his mask. (NSFW language)
- New York JFK Virgin Atlantic CLubhouse accessible to Amex Platinum but just from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. They do offer hot breakfast to order.
- Since I’ve used ViaSat inflight internet overwater (Atlantic) as recently as last week, I didn’t realize their coverage is non-existent to Hawaii. That’s disappointing since I’m scheduled to fly to Hawaii soon on ViaSat-equipped planes.
- Delta adds more than 100 daily flights to New York for fall, “a 25% capacity increase” and they’re touting themselves as “JFK and LGA’s largest carrier.” So someone tell me how allowing American Airlines and JetBlue to partner there is somehow ‘bad for competition’..?
- El Al has a new lounge at New York JFK
GoGo gets a bad rap, but I’ve successfully used it to/from Hawaii and to/from North America to Southeast Asia with no real problems. Sure, the signal occasionally cuts out or speeds slow, but I’d estimate the flights had connectivity for at least 90% of the inflight time. That’s a win for me and anyone else who bills by the hour. I can crank out a lot of emails and memos between glasses of champagne on a 13-hour flight to Toyko or a 5-hour flight between Los Angeles and Honolulu.
I’ve never heard of anything like that.
I’ve never heard of anything like that, whereas airline staff are not aboard a flight and no pilot crew on board warming up in the cockpit.
An aircraft with no Delta crew, no attendants, and no pilots equal no pre-departure beverages.
Didn’t we see the results of this in the movie “Airplane”?
United boarded my flight from IAD to LGA on Monday with no captain. After we were seated, the FO told the FA to get everybody off. Total sh@tshow.
Based on the flight number, it was a Delta Connection Carrier SkyWest and not mainline. Delta is still “responsible” since the Connection Carrier “flies the Delta logo”.
This is the most historical article ever. Wow. What journalism! What an incredible piece. Someone call someone important. This is the next ann landers.
