News and notes from around the interweb:
- Trump Hotel DC will become a Waldorf-Astoria Hilton Honors property.
- Southwest flight attendant hospitalized after being attacked by passenger on Saturday
- Disney’s CFO on cost-cutting by reducing food portion sizes at theme parks and deriding customers for their weight isn’t sitting well.
“We have things on the cost of goods side,” McCarthy said. “And it’s interesting. Just last week … I was talking to our parks senior team about things we could do there. And there are lots of things that are worth talking about. We can adjust suppliers. We can substitute products. We can cut portion size, which is probably good for some people’s waistlines.”
- Video shows inmate escaping custody at Milwaukee airport the old ‘I have to use the bathroom’ trick.
- Citi added Wyndham Rewards as hotel tranfer partner. Hard to get excited about 1:1 transfers here, I value a Wyndham points at $0.008. However you can do perhaps three times better than that with some vacation rental redemptions through Vacasa (15,000 per night per bedroom, generally).
- Boeing 747 to park in Seattle high-rise
- Revenue-based redemptions harm airline loyalty
I am a deeply offended by the insinuation that fat people are thin skinned.
The glutton are outraged!
Ugh! It is “…..gluttons…..”
Maybe they should start by downsizing food options for the Execs. Chapek looks like he could use a few more salads.
But in all seriousness, that a senior exec would say this in public tells you the disregard with with the Disney leadership holds their customer base.
Americans are overwhelmingly fat. This is why we had as many COVID-19 deaths as we did. Fat kills, comrades!

For the prices they charge people should be allowed to be gluttons. Sure they’ll downsize the portions but prices will be going up. So glad I buy a lot of discounted Disney gift cards. And definitely staying off site. And definitely doing more in Orlando vs Disney for the 2 weeks we will be there.
Truth is, the Disney CFO is right–waistlines could be trimmed. He’s not calling people ‘fat’. The average Disney visitor could benefit from a bit of tweaking in food consumption. Even those of us pudgies like myself agree!
The further you get from Walt, the more apparent it becomes that Disney “magic” is gone.
Regardless of the fatness of their guests, Disney doesn’t need to cut portion size on food to maintain the extremely high margin they have on their overpriced food. This is just them being greedy, as usual
Don’t worry, Disney is lobbying the Brandon administration for a Salad Mandate.
Disney CFO just wants to cut the size of portions but keep charging the same amount. If there was any legitimate concern about weight and overall health they would be offering more healthy and filling food alternatives.
Tall people need to be considered too. Tall people eat larger portions and maintain a healthy weight.
so the $22 turkey leg is now 30 % smaller. genius
then again, only idiots visit Disney so who gives a shit
“josh rogan” is very well qualified to determine who is and is not an idiot, I’m sure of it!
Disney is one of the few places where a burger and fries that are of McDonalds quality can set you back 3x-4x what you would pay at McDonalds. I think their margins are fine….just pure greed.
@Kevin – Rump has a frequent diners card at the burger place. This will hit him hard.
+1 Bhcompy, Bill, Paul, and Josh!
