  1. […] As you probably have already heard, Google Reader seems to be on the way out in a few months.  If this is something you use to keep up with many blogs like this one then be sure to check out View From the Wing’s post on a viable alternative. […]

  1. Or us old school firefox users can still use the no-so-obsolete bookmarks toolbar for the BoardingArea RSS.

Something that can be done with a poorly functioning Chrome plug-in.

  2. Oh no! I love reading the blogs in Google Reader. I won’t click from one blog to the other, Google Reader makes it sooo easy.

  3. I don’t like when software gets decommissioned. Hopefully, they will become more aggressive in giving information on how to migrate blogs as the deco date nears. But as long as Facebook is still running… 🙂

  4. I love Google Reader! I am still hopeful they will reconsider. The fact that Google Reader exists actually made me switch back to Google from Apple for quite a few products after Apple removed RSS from Mail…

  5. I just switched to bloglines.com.

Exporting my google reader data was pretty easy.

In google reader: go to settings, import/export, Download your data through Takeout, pick Reader, download the file, and unzip the file.

In bloglines.com, switch to reader, click “Add Contents (top left)”, click import, and find subscriptions.xml from your google download.

Editing feeds is easily done in the widget mode, and reading is easily done in reader mode.

Have fun, it is almost like google reader.

  6. Oh, and do notice that when google reader disappears so does all the applications depending on the google reader API, so don’t switch to something like greader, etc.
