Driver In Front Of New York JFK Terminal 5 Tries To Give Traffic Guard A Beat Down

A woman driving a vehicle in front of New York JFK’s terminal 5, home to JetBlue, wasn’t following traffic instructions. The security officer directing traffic was having none of that, and beat the hood of her car. The driver, though, wasn’t going to take that lightly. She got out of the vehicle, went to her trunk, and pulled out… a bat. The two proceeded to tussle, and a second person in a bright security vest came over to assist. But it was a bystander who intervened to shut things down, grabbing the bat and helping to subdue the driver.

And all I can think is, well, just another day at New York JFK?

The copy of the video that I found was posted in March, though it’s not clear when the footage was taken. I’ve seen it shared across numerous social media platforms, and first encountered it in a Facebook reel.

  1. Two wrongs here.

    – security guard can’t just slam something into the hood like that.

    – the person can’t get out of their car and get a bat which is a potential weapon to retaliate.

I’d say the employee should get fired and the woman should be charged with assault. I’d be surprised if that woman isn’t familiar with going to court with the way she reacted.

  2. NYC is taking admirable steps to reduce private car traffic. Congestion charges are coming to Manhattan below 60th St. LGA parking is already up to $89 per day. $89 per day!

If the precursor to the video was congested traffic at the JFK terminal curb, then JFK should implement a toll for private cars to reach the curb. This type of toll is not without precedent. At least one London airport does it. If you drive a private car and wish to pick up or drop off somebody at that London airport, you have to park offsite and take a shuttle to the terminal.

The big question is why JFK AirTrain still costs more than $8 which would seem to be a gaping flaw in the incentive structure against private cars.

  3. It’s not just London, Scotland also charges drivers arriving to pick up passengers

  4. Not sure who is the bigger idiot: the security officer, the driver, or the person who keeps popping in and out throughout the video.

  5. They should trespass her from the airport – Have her go to LGA instead!

  6. If I had as dime for every time I wanted to go at someone with a bat while driving…

Look more carefully at the start of the video. She rolled her car at him, he’s reacting to that. I have no problem with his actions.

Why is the security officer an idiot?

And I’ll say grannie is the bigger idiot as I’m pretty sure she’s guilty of assault with a deadly weapon here, while the moron in the frame is only guilty of criminal obnoxiousness.
