News and notes from around the interweb:
- It took 18 years for a DC lawyer’s disbarment after stealing $1,100 from another passenger on a flight to Seoul. The lawyer even apparently forged evidence for her defense.
- Five Marriott free night certificate initial bonus offer
- American Airlines now codeshares with JetSMART Peru
- Going on vacation in random U.S. suburbs
- “I fly business class and leave my kid in economy. I get called a ‘bad mom’ but the perks are worth it — and I share them.” The kid is a teenager, so that is fine vis-a-vis other passengers. Whether or not a business class passenger actually gets a guest in lounge will vary by airline, and I’ll leave it to others to debate the appropriateness of asking crew to deliver someone of your business class breakfast to a passenger in coach (and how that works with other coach passengers around them seeing it happen).
- Through September 30, earn at least 25 AAdvantage miles per dollar donating to Stand Up To Cancer instead of the normal 10 miles, plus if you pay with an AAdvantage co-brand Mastercard you’ll actually earn 50 miles per dollar. Here’s a bit more important background from when American and Mastercard ran this last year.
These miles do not count as Loyalty Points, and they stupidly value the miles at 3 cents apiece so rather than getting a charitable deduction you’re getting as much as 50% more than the value of your gift as a quid pro quo. But you’re buying miles at 2 cents apiece (slightly less, when you factor the miles earned from credit card spend) and may feel like you’re doing something noble at the same time.
So no concierge key for 10k donation?
I would rather donate directly to the $500k/yr indigent captains fund
