How about flying Delta non-stop from New York to Italy for under $400 roundtrip?
These fares require two people to be traveling together, you won’t see them if you’re searching for just one person.
However you can fly between New York and Milan for $399 per person roundtrip on non-stops.
- Travel through April 13 and then again October 29 through November 30.
- Seven day advance purchase is required and there’s a 3 day minimum stay.
- Change fees are $300.
Availability at this pricing is wide open.
Looking at the base fares — $25 each way — you know that pricing really cannot (intentionally) get lower than this.
You won’t earn very many miles in Delta’s frequent flyer program, so consider crediting to a partner. You aren’t going to upgrade these fares (other than with Delta Diamond confirmed upgrades, and even if you could use miles the costs are higher than an award ticket).
Nonetheless, Italy for under $400 apiece is pretty fantastic.
Thanks for the headsup Gary. This also seems to be available on Emirates, and for earlier in October than the 29th. If you had a choice, would you rather fly coach in Emirates or Delta?
@tim – i know plenty of people will say i am crazy, but i would choose delta economy over emirates (18″ seat width vs 17″)
Doesn’t seem to be coming up now.
Delta is just trying to compete on the same route with Emirates. Even the requirement for two people to fly together is the same. Not sure why Delta can never innovate but just copy. BTW, not sure what plane Emirates fly on this route but I flew 6 times JFK-MXP on Delta last year and they use a very old 767 that is ready for retirement. Thus, the 1″ advantage in seat width may be lost on other things that a newer plane can offer. Also, Delta service vs Emirates? Thoughts?
Seems like a decent opportunity to mileage run(for MQM’s only) given the possible short turn. Grab a few sites, eat a few great meals, come home.
please clarify: do you have to travel ‘twice’, once before April and then again in October?
@ontheroadagain – this fare was AVAILABLE during those timeframes, you did not have to travel twice [but the fare did require that two people travel together on the same reservation]
Booked it – chose the AA route. Thanks!!!
