Delta is looking for a new Manager of Program Strategy for the SkyMiles program. And there are four interesting things in the job listing.
- Not surprising but Delta now claims over 100 million SkyMiles members. As with all such things we don’t really know what this means beyond ‘database records’ e.g. how many are active, some activity in the past say 18 or 24 months?
- SkyMiles is about “rewarding high-value customers” (even though they don’t), an idea which is in tension with serving 100 million members. At least they know want they want to do, and whom they don’t care about.
SkyMiles is core to Delta’s thoughtful, reliable, and innovative brand promise, developing and rewarding high-value customers at every point along the travel journey.
- They continue to claim they’re “a” best rewards program in the methodology absurd US News report, though here they’re finally honest that this means they came in second (unlike even in their earnings call).
- This person will be in charge of enhancing “products, services and policies” — no customer anywhere has ever benefited when their loyalty program is ‘enhanced’.

They should really hire Delta Points… oh wait, never mind, the guy has no relevant work experience, cannot spell or use correct grammar, and is an all-around loser otherwise.
Bottom line? Delta SUX.
Hello. We’re from the government. We’re here to enhance er help.
Maybe Gary Leff should apply for the job. Then you could work inside the “Delta Death Star” instead of merely ranting about it everyday. 🙂
Seems like bloggers today are continually saying AAdvantage and MileagePlus copy and fall short of SkyMiles…last time I looked 1+1=2. Put things together to see that, of the US3, DL seems to be the best. I’m not standing up for what SkyMiles has become but I sure like it better than AA or UA…
