A couple of days ago I mentioned that this blog would be carried both in its usual place and over at the National Car Rental Facebook Page as part of their ‘Go Like a Pro’ feature.
Since National is a perennial favorite of business travelers for their ‘Emerald Aisle’ (pick your own car offering), it makes sense to bring unfiltered travel advice to their customers through their communications channels, I think it’s what I would do if I were them also, brand myself as the place for savvy travelers period and explain my offerings that way too.
They’re not paying me, I do have elite status with National (though they aren’t the only rental car chain with which I have status), and I asked them if they might have a few things I could give away to my readers.
One of the best things a serious traveler can have is a serious roll aboard, and they’ve generously offered a Victorinox Werks Traveler 4.0 to be given away to one of my readers.
They sent this photo of the bag:
For some sense of things, it looks like Amazon has the bag discounted from $500 down to $300. It’s a serious bag, and hopefully giving it away makes this a serious blog too. Hah!
- All you need to do to enter is leave a comment to this post, either what you like in a carry on bag or in a rental car.
- Only enter once. Anyone leaving more than one comment will not be eligible to win.
- I will draw a winning comment at random using random.org
- The contest will remain open for entries through Sunday, April 24 at 6pm Eastern.
This is a giveaway, I don’t get anything by offering it, all interpretations of rules are mine and it isn’t mean to be a strict terms and conditions just a friendly gesture to benefit readers. If you have a question, please don’t post it as a comment here since you only get one entry! Instead email me.
Enter away, good luck on the carry on, and thanks for the giveaway opportunity, National!
I love a carry on that rolls quietly. For some reason it annoys me when my carry on chatters like a Gatling gun when I walk down a moving sidewalk.
I like a black bag so that I don’t have to wash it frequently.
I like a wheeled bag for long walks through badly designed terminals. I want the bag to not fall over when my computer bag is attached to it in some manner. I would prefer it to be waterproof because of the bad United Express “gates” at ORD. Finally, I like free stuff
At the moment, I would take a rental car that is clean and does not smell. The last few rental cars I have had have been dirty and smelly. Maybe I have been just having bad luck!
I like a good deal
For a rental I like a car that is at least something close to the class I intended to rent…if I reserve a subcompact I didn’t mean to rent an Explorer.
I like a carry-on bag that can truly be carried on. One with multiple compartments – inside mesh/zip compartments and outside easy access compartments. Wheels that don’t drag with a little weight are a plus as well.
What I like in a rental car is a USB port so that I can charge my phone without having to take my car charger while traveling.
I go for strength and light weight in a bag.
If you have the executive status, I think National offers better product than Hertz and Avis. Especially if you go with a group, you can pick the right size (even a SUV) based on how many people will ask for the ride.
I always enjoy the Aux/Audio In feature so I can plug in my iPod or iPhone.
Best rental car is one that has no line to pick up and is quick to drop off.
I like a light weight rollaboard and also durable. Thanks for the giveaway.
The most important thing for me in a carry-on is maneuverability and light weight.
I like different compartments in a carry-on bag. 🙂
Quiet wheels! Nothing more annoying than a loud rollaboard, especially down an older sidewalk.
What I like in a carry on bag is lightness.
With a great looking and durable bag like that, I could do two week trips several times a year for a long time!
What I like most in a bag is durability.
What I like in a carry on bag is a totally waterproof section.
I want durability and versatility in a bag.
Carryon needs to be relatively light, have wheels and a handle.
I like that National has short lines and frequent pickups at busier airports.
I love the National Emerald Executive Aisles… they always give me a free upgrade whenever I rent with National!
Anyone know if one is hertz gold if national will status match?
Cool bag, gary
I like my carryon to be big enough to pack for a weekend, but small enough to be able to chug it along without any problems.
I like the “pick any car” option at National. They also have the easiest checking out and return procedures.
I love the pick your own car….especially when there is a nice selection.
Favorite thing is when rental car includes a map without me bugging them … Hey I don’t know where I am
For rental cars, I like Satellite radio
Insane use of points indeed.
In a carry-on bag, I like easily accessible out compartments that make it easy to remove computers and toiletries at security, but which do not stick far beyond the body of the bag and make it difficult to squeeze into the overheard bin.
A smooth rolling bag that’s the perfect size!
Maneuverability is what I want out of a carry-on bag.
GPS is the best feature in the car
For car rental, convenient to pick up and return is my top priority.
I like the car clean and full of gas. It’s annoying to pick up a car that looks like it was just partied in or out of gas when I need to get somewhere.
I like a lightweight and roomy carry on with good size zipper pulls.
When choosing rental cars, I look at price, ff promos, and ability to choose a car that I want. wow, could definitely use a new roll aboard bag!
On a roll-aboard I truly enjoy maximum carry-on sizes so that I can afford myself a smug smile when a sceptic gate agent try to put my bag to the test.
Asus Eee Pad Transformer!
I just checked out that bag on Amazon….that’s nice….real nice. My current bag is very beat up, but this bag looks much more durable.
I like a rental car that has audio input jacks for mp3 players.
Contest entry: What I like in a bag is something light but sturdy and that rolls easily.
Never owned a “rollaboard” bag. I watch with awe when I see them being stuffed into overhead bins. I’d like one like a tardis: svelte, easy to roll down an aisle but accessible, high-tech space inside.
Wheels that are recessed and don’t break.
I like sturdy material on the bag, and a pull up handle wide enough and heavy enough not to wobble when pulled.
I like a bag that rolls easily, is durable and isn’t too heavy itself!
light-weighted bag as well as light-weighted car
I like a rental car that is free from strange odors (don’t always get that, but I’m always relieved when I do!).
