Giveaway: Victorinox Werks Traveler 4.0 Rollaboard

A couple of days ago I mentioned that this blog would be carried both in its usual place and over at the National Car Rental Facebook Page as part of their ‘Go Like a Pro’ feature.

Since National is a perennial favorite of business travelers for their ‘Emerald Aisle’ (pick your own car offering), it makes sense to bring unfiltered travel advice to their customers through their communications channels, I think it’s what I would do if I were them also, brand myself as the place for savvy travelers period and explain my offerings that way too.

They’re not paying me, I do have elite status with National (though they aren’t the only rental car chain with which I have status), and I asked them if they might have a few things I could give away to my readers.

One of the best things a serious traveler can have is a serious roll aboard, and they’ve generously offered a Victorinox Werks Traveler 4.0 to be given away to one of my readers.

They sent this photo of the bag:

For some sense of things, it looks like Amazon has the bag discounted from $500 down to $300. It’s a serious bag, and hopefully giving it away makes this a serious blog too. Hah!

If you have a question, please don’t post it as a comment here since you only get one entry! Instead email me.

Enter away, good luck on the carry on, and thanks for the giveaway opportunity, National!

  1. I’m not particularly picky when it comes to rental cars although I prefer a brand new car or one that is very clean inside.

  2. I like a durable bag that will fit in overhead bins but also has lots of pockets to put things, and can withstand abuse from having to check bags, and being lugged all over. Most rental cars are okay except for the Chevy HHR, which has awful windows.

  3. I like a great price and the no smoke smell in my rental car. For my carry-on, it need to fit in the overhead bin!

  4. I like a carry on bag to have firm sides as I frequent don’t check a bag and like my items to be well protected.

  5. I’m an emerald aisle fan, too (having switched from Hz)

I like expansion capability in a bag. Carry on while going to the destination, sometimes check on the way home.

  6. I want my rollaboard to roll well without wobbling, to be durable, and not too heavy when empty.

  7. What I look for in a rollaboard is a large front pocket that can hold a 13″ laptop. That allows me to do away with my laptop bag and further reduce clutter. I’m loving the size of the pocket on this Victorinox.

  8. I do prefer National when renting as the check in process for Emerald Executive couldn’t be easier or quicker. i usually rent in Hawaii and some of those counter lines can be scary at times. National is always offering me some sort of discount for weekly rentals and their cars are clean and new!

  9. PS: I wish people would understand that it is a rollaboard (which makes sense) and not a rollerboard (which is nonsense)

  10. What Lou said about being able to hold a laptop. The ideal carryon bag is one that can hold *everything* I need, including a suit, for a week.

  11. I like a rental car large enough for my 6’4″ husband, my favorite travel companion! I’m only 5’1″, so a subcompact works for me.

  12. I like a bag that is big enough to hold everything I need and small enough to fit overhead

  13. Most important features of a Carry-on bag are lots of outside pockets, rollon bad, light weight, correct size (that fits easily in overhead compartment), and soft wheels that does not produce annoying sound when walking on tiled floor.

  14. What I like is for the wheels, or any other plastic bits, to not stick out too far. They’ll get ripped right off.

  15. I like having a bag that is light enough to carry around but rugged enough to survive being thrown around liberally!

  16. A clean rental car is key, and not just superficially. Wipe done all the nooks, like near the door arm rests and the cup holders.

  17. I like rental cars that let me plug in an iPod. With so many podcasts and audio books, who listens to the radio anymore?

  18. I like a clean reliable car which I always get with National! I really do appreciate when some car rental companies actually go a step ahead and offer a cold bottle of water on a hot summer day :-).

  19. What I love about a nice carry-on bag is the efficiency factor. You are able to fit a proper amount of clothes for a short trip and keep sensitive items close, all while not worrying about checking in a piece of luggage and wasting time at the baggage claim. This particular carry-on bag seems durable and should last a long while.

  20. Durability and good wheels – you know, the ones that you can roll over curbs and bumps without the bag flipping over on you

  21. i like when the cars don’t have too many miles on them, even if it’s not the best model car, the feel of a new car makes up for a lot.

  22. Good wheels and maneuverability, the bag has to withstand use outside on the sidewalks as well in the airport on the nice smooth surfaces.

  23. Being able to pick your own car, significantly reduces time by cutting out most instances of returning to rental agent because of a problem with a pre assigned car.

  24. Carry on bag usually has my iPad, bottle of water, printed itinerary, gum, book or magazine for take off/landing.

  25. In a car, price first then convenience.
In a bag, ergonomics are the most important for me.

  26. The rotating handle is what I like most about this bag … perfect for 66 year old joints! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

  27. I want a very good price for a rental car. Prices vary all over the board, just give me a consistently low price so I don’t have to waste time shopping all over the place.
