Giveaway: Victorinox Werks Traveler 4.0 Rollaboard

A couple of days ago I mentioned that this blog would be carried both in its usual place and over at the National Car Rental Facebook Page as part of their ‘Go Like a Pro’ feature.

Since National is a perennial favorite of business travelers for their ‘Emerald Aisle’ (pick your own car offering), it makes sense to bring unfiltered travel advice to their customers through their communications channels, I think it’s what I would do if I were them also, brand myself as the place for savvy travelers period and explain my offerings that way too.

They’re not paying me, I do have elite status with National (though they aren’t the only rental car chain with which I have status), and I asked them if they might have a few things I could give away to my readers.

One of the best things a serious traveler can have is a serious roll aboard, and they’ve generously offered a Victorinox Werks Traveler 4.0 to be given away to one of my readers.

They sent this photo of the bag:

For some sense of things, it looks like Amazon has the bag discounted from $500 down to $300. It’s a serious bag, and hopefully giving it away makes this a serious blog too. Hah!

  • All you need to do to enter is leave a comment to this post, either what you like in a carry on bag or in a rental car.
  • Only enter once. Anyone leaving more than one comment will not be eligible to win.
  • I will draw a winning comment at random using random.org
  • The contest will remain open for entries through Sunday, April 24 at 6pm Eastern.

This is a giveaway, I don’t get anything by offering it, all interpretations of rules are mine and it isn’t mean to be a strict terms and conditions just a friendly gesture to benefit readers. If you have a question, please don’t post it as a comment here since you only get one entry! Instead email me.

Enter away, good luck on the carry on, and thanks for the giveaway opportunity, National!

  1. I like a backpack style laptop case that is durable and has plenty of storage. It’s amazing how full I have been able to fill my 10 year old Trager and the fact it has (mostly) held up.

  2. I love a durable rollaboard, I generally like them in off colors (red, purple) so I can easily spot my bag. I had a red Victorinox that lasted for about 7 years and close to a million miles, but that’s probably because I carry on 99.9% of the time!

  3. Luggage must be strong, durable, and reliable. Once I bought a cheap suitcase that didn’t make it past the first leg of the trip. It was a huge inconvenience.

In my experience, Victorinox luggage is fantastically reliable (and beautiful too). A bit pricey, but well worth the cost.

  4. Rollaboard – durability and has to be light
Rental car – clean, smoke-free, low miles and doesn’t have the handling and ride of a boat

  5. I’d like my carry-on to be small enough to be allowed on board, but to actually open into a magical room full of all my possessions.

  6. Lightweight is by FAR the most important thing; durability is second. Looks are a distant third.

  7. Since we use our carry-ons more and check luggage less these days, it is important to have a carry on that is sturdy, well balanced so that it is not always tipping over when you are navigating with it, durable and stain resistant.

  8. I want luggage that’s light weight and if wheeled, easy to maneuver without knocking over other people, things or myself in the process.

  9. I like luggage that you can easily pick up and hold in front of yourself as you make the long trip down the isle to the back of the plane

  10. I like bags that have a lighter color lining. Black interors make it difficult to find items.

  11. My “must-have” in a rental car is a trunk! Rental cars filled with vacationers’ baggage is easy prey for smash & grab thieves. I’m looking at you, PT Cruiser.

  12. I would never buy a $300-500 roll-a-board, so this is the only chance to get one. Thanks Gary

  13. In a rental car: some way of connecting my iphone/ipod, built in navigation, and plenty of trunk space for luggage/golf clubs.

  14. Carry On: Light & Durable… plus I like lots of compartments for makeup, electronics, etc. 🙂

  15. I like a light-weight carry-on bag so I don’t stagger when I put it in the overhead bin 🙂

  16. Something I am finding more and more valuable are telescoping handles on rollerbags that can stand up to a beating!

  17. I usually like a Vera Bradley carry-on, the fabric is light and it can smooch into a tight spot.

  18. For rental cars, price is the main driver but I’ll give up a little in price to get access to the Emerald Aisle!

  19. I like a rental car company with no additional fees for those under 25 years old! 🙂

  20. I like a clean car in good condition (and no bald tires) that drives well for a good price. Too much to ask?

  21. I like a carry-on bag that has room for my laptop, 2 days worth of business clothes, and a pair of shoes – and still fits under the seat in front of me. Haven’t found one I love since Atlantic discontinued their “mobile office” model several years ago. This looks like a really nice rollaboard bag, and I’m sure I would survive without being able to fit it under the seat. 🙂
