Group Of Frontier Passengers Can’t Bear The Airline, Rent Van Together Instead

A group of Frontier Airlines passengers banded together to rent a van for an overnight drive rather than endure travel on the airline, after their initial 650 mile flight from Orlando to Knoxville was cancelled last Sunday.

The airline told them the next flight they could take would be two days later, and so they decided 10 hours with Hertz would be far better than 48 hours to their destination with an air carrier. And they took to TikTok to document the journey.

One of the passengers said in the TikTok video that they were a keynote speaker at an event on Tuesday and chose to ride in the van so they to make the event. A family who took the minivan said they were planning to visit a university in Tennessee.

Each passenger was offered a $50 credit towards future Frontier Airlines travel, which wasn’t enough to cover the per person share of the van rental. And, they learned, gas stations don’t take Frontier Airlines travel credit either. However passengers likely had more legroom, and access to internet via their cell phones, which they wouldn’t have had if they’d flown Frontier.

  1. Can’t imagine the logistics of 13 people in a minivan, or van, and the today piece didn’t detail.

Regardless, good on them. Our local coverage said the adventure is being explored as a potential movie. I’d guess so.

  2. Sure, 10 hours driving the Hertz rental to Tennessee. But they forgot to add in the 5 days in jail for each of them when Hertz reports the car stolen.

  3. @Thing LOL Remember the day we’d all fight to be the one to pay the bill in order to be the big earner on CC miles. Now: no way!

  4. I can’t believe people with schedules, appointments and need to be somewhere at a specific time consider taking Frontier (or Spirit). Some people never learn.

  5. Join the club! A group of us did the same thing and im.sure it wont be the last time a group does it …drove from Orlando to Atlanta instead of taking the flight …if it’s not a nonstop flight with them im just not interested…

  6. Gennady, I learned. Frontier is the worst airline in the sky. I think Spirit is far superior to Frontier. I have been canceled, Schedule changed and lied to from Frontier customer service into submission. AND I’m a 100k elite that gets free seats, bags and priority boarding but because of Frontiers practices, this airline has cost me money in 2022. My canceled flight back in February has me still fighting to get back my reimbursment in spite of 2 written letters, many phone calls and over 400 emails. Frontier is the worst airline in the sky.

  7. Frontier has been my worst experience and waste of money. Complete thieves…… spent only 300 dollars more on tickets from spirit for 8 people than what frontier wanted to charge for 4 Passengers who could’ve easily made a change to their flight if the actually had customer service bur instead complete butthiles in person at the airport and we had to spend extra mo ey on 2 hotel rooms and flight and basically lost 1000 dollars per family….what a crock os sh*t airline and customer service. Will definitely put my faith and money into a more reputable airline for my trip next month

  8. The only way I would even remotely consider this crap airline would be if I had no schedule or appts or anywhere I had to be…in other words…nothing on my schedule.
    Wait…no I wouldn’t even consider them then

  9. Used to fly frontier several times a year. Not anymore. Can’t even call customer service when they cancel your flight. Saving $50 just ain’t worth it.

  10. Why would anyone in their right mind wait to be late because of an airline when they can just go on their own terms? This is an easy alternative. Bonus is boosting local economies along the way. If airlines take a hit, it’s their own fault. Hey millennials and Z’ers…search out the movie Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. It’s a winner.
