Last summer Hilton disavowed the government’s use of its hotels to house undocumented immigrants. Marriott declared that their hotels shouldn’t be used to temporarily house people picked up in immigration raids.
So you would be forgiven for thinking that Hilton hotels were no longer being used to detain migrants. Yet there’s another political furor over hotels housing migrant families and a Hampton Inn by Hilton has just backed out of a contract to do so along with a Microtel (Wyndham) and a Best Western.
Three hotels under the Endeavors contract started housing migrant families earlier this month. The accommodations are expected to hold roughly 600 migrants altogether.
A Woodspring Suites, a Hampton Inn by Hilton, a Microtel by Wyndham and a Best Western were slated to open up more space for migrant families starting April 30, but backed out and now the deadline has been pushed back, according to sources familiar with the situation.
Endeavors told Axios that it has been able to secure three alternative hotel sites, but did not provide further details.
The company contracting with these hotels “hired a Biden transition official shortly before the non-bid contracts were signed” for $87 million.
Of course when the Ritz-Carlton Riyadh was used as a detention center (and reportedly for torture and murder) Marriott didn’t deflag the property. So I’m not sure how consistent the outrage is, or how willing a chain is to lose business over their convictions.
Three years ago it was airlines objecting to being used by the federal government to deport kids though Delta ‘applauded the administration’ for its efforts to unite immigrant children with their parents (sic).

I like this David Frum quote, “If Liberals Won’t Enforce Borders, Fascists Will”
Can you imagine the cleaning these hotels would have to do after the covid infected immigrants leave?
Costly and what traveler would want to stay at one of these hotels that housed immigrants bot knowing if they had covid..
Hilton should be advocating that illegals be immediately deported when they are captured. All asylum claims for non Mexican citizens who come through the southern border are false. Mexico is a prosperous advanced economy with a strong manufacturing base. Anyone who comes from south of Mexico’s border is required to seek asylum in Mexico. We know all asylum claims are false when these illegals claim asylum in the U.S. instead of the nearest country Mexico.
Illegals wouldn’t have to be housed if they were immediately deported.
They probably will poop on carpets and peep on sheets.
Hilton = A management company that generally does not own the property. They make money regardless of whether the property does or not.
Owner of the property in COVID-19 = Someone who is watching a hotel largely be vacant, while the management company continually gets paid.
It’s nice for Hilton to turn away business, but ultimately the property owner might prefer guaranteed government money with less than desirable tenants over bankruptcy. This is conundrum we are in.
I have no idea if Illegals are unruly or not. Management always has the right to eject any tenant who is unruly. Always has.
The reason why we are seeing so many properties drop out of the larger chains, and the rise of names like Sonesta is all about money.
Absolutely deplorable
Dirtiest hotel ever.
