  1. That woman was right to ditch the boyfriend and his family at the airport. Free ticket or not, if that’s how she was treating OP at the start of the vacation, it was only going to get much worse from there.

  2. My 10 year old boy was seriously concerned about the 8 year old girl when we heard that story in the car. Then I told him back then cell phones didn’t exist… PANIC! I’m glad they just kept the story to focus on the kind heart of the helper though. It make the story easier for him to digest.

  3. Incredible history of Meigs Field, wasn’t aware of any of it.
i’ll spare me the pain to check if Jane Byrne is a Dem, because I don’t even need to, I’m quite sure she is. The left is always against anything that means progress.

  4. @BBK Chicago is and has been a Dem city.and probably will remain so. Meigs was not needed and had nothing to do with progress. There are a lot of small airports in the Chicago suburbs that serve private planes.

  5. When I was 9, I was in a similar situation but slightly worse. I was flying alone on an international flight with a connection in a third country where English was not spoken too much. A woman offered to let me stay in her hotel room but I was afraid that she was a bad person. At the time, I didn’t know much about molestation except that some strangers occasionally did very bad things.

Luckily, I was able to get a hotel voucher and the hotel allowed a 9 year old kid to check in without an adult! I did make one error. I only collected 1 of 2 suitcases because I thought the other one would get to the destination. It was never found.

  6. I hate Mayor Daley for the act of terrorism he did by literally destroying the runways of Meigs Field. I had the opportunity to visit it once while it was still an airport. Daley should be incarcerated at Guantanamo Bay along with KSM, who is already there.

  7. Today a child of that age alone at an airport could just as easily be bait for some pervert or kidnapper. Her poor mother back home must’ve been worried to death. That 18 year old chaperone a disgrace. Thank God it did not happen to her.
