‘How Is This Allowed?’ Passengers Slam Influencer’s Viral Aisle Workout In Emirates Business Class Gym Stunt

A Mexican fitness influencer went to town in business class on Emirates, and she’s getting roasted on social media for the stunt. Bárbara de Regil has over nine million Instagram followers. She claimed to have been traveling for 35 hours, stopping in Dubai. She says she felt “crazy” from sitting too long and decided to exercise. Wearing her Emirates pajamas, she busted out her routing of running-in-place movements and squat jumps in the aisle, while her husband sat on his phone.

She shared an 18-second clip of the workout, but she’s deleted is because reaction wasn’t what she expected. She was disruptive to the rest of the cabin, since she did it in the midst of the aisle. She should have done her exercises while stopped at the Dubai airport where facilities are more conducive.

She got attention, which maybe was what she was after, but at what cost?

If this happened on a flight I was on, I’d have flagged down a flight attendant and said something. Surely this is not appropriate. It’s fine when you’re the only passenger in the cabin, or when you’re traveling in a seat with enough enclosed space to do this privately (like the new Emirates first class, or Singapore Suites). It’s not fine in Emirates business, where it detracts from the overall experience. What would you have done?

  1. Good for not getting deep bone thrombosis. Compared to people and animals defecating, this is not a problem. Claudia Bárbara de Regil Alfaro is a Mexican actress.

  2. Evidently a simple walk up and down the aisle wouldn’t have gotten her the same number of clicks.

  3. Having done EK many years, often three days out, one day back flying, in economy cattle class (not premium economy), at over six feet tall and a gym rat also, I don’t understand feeling “crazy” and doing running in place and jumping air squats with long hair flying all over in the common aisle wearing EK pajamas. While debarking, I do pass through Business class and observe the spacious caccoons provided individual flyers. I think if that stunt happened to me, I would react the same way I do when someone is struggling with heavy luggage in the hat rack near or over my seat: i cower and brace my arms over my head and p;ray that nothing falls on me. Or is this new stealth marketing by EK to her flyng followers? Bizarre.

  4. This is such an interesting discussion! It’s surprising to see influencers pushing the boundaries in unique spaces like business class. While I appreciate the creativity, it raises questions about etiquette and respect for fellow passengers. What do you all think—should there be limits on such stunts in public areas?

  5. It depends. If she was interfering with others I might have said something, but if not I might have let it go

  6. “how is this allowed?”

Well, if you’re more interested in being a social media drama queen passive aggressive little b1tch, and are too afraid to be direct when people behave badly, you get this.

  7. Not appropriate, displaying a lack of class, wait until you get to your hotel or airbnb and use the facilities there.

  8. What would I have done? Looked up a translation of “You look like an idiot, go away” from Spanish and started to laugh … while going in search of the Purser. Letting people get away with behaving like fools in public just makes them try worse things next time. It would be nice if these influencers grasped the level of moron they’re influencing and went off to find something productive to do.

  9. Just the mental illness, narcissism and need to “be somebody” (even when you have nothing special to offer) that has engulfed western society.

  10. Why do we need influencers who are making the new generations brainless when they make millions do to the most stupid stuff ever wherever they want for clicks and likes !!! The social media are making people into followers only who cannot think for themselves anymore ! Sickening !!!

  11. The world would be a better place if all so-called “influencers” would take a long walk of a short pier and drown.

  12. Did she violate any rules? Did she touch any passengers? Was she overtly loud? Seems to me you finding a behavior annoying is not a good enough reason for you to try to force that behavior to stop. Funny how people around her didn’t have an issue with it, but people not involved with the situation at all did.

  13. Is this dumb, yes? However, if she’s not in the way of the FAs, it doesn’t last long and she’s not bothering other passengers (just her husband it looks like), then I guess I wouldn’t really care? I’m usually reclined and cocooned in my blanket as soon as we take off with noise cancelling headphones, an infinity pillow that pretty much wraps around my face and a completely light proof eye mask, so I doubt I would even notice.

  14. I’d have done the same as you, Gary. This kind of thoughtless, entitled behavior has no place in a crowded public setting. What a shame that so many are seemingly incapable of thinking for themselves and turn to people like this for influence in how to lead their lives. Woe is us…

  15. What business class experience? On nearly every one of my recent long haul business class flights over the last few years, there have been people (with more money than sense) with babies and small children. Think it’s take the women exercising for a few minutes on the aisle over a toddler screaming through the whole flight.

  16. The word ” influencer” needs to be stricken from the language. How is it that they influence you? And why?

  17. I believe the FAs saw this but they were afraid of saying anything, they don’t wanna get involved.

  18. I understand long flights are uncomfortable but, knowing this in advance I would ask when booking my flight if there will be stops to get up & move or what is available to help passengers with blood flow to prevent blood clots. Asking questions in advance is best, running up & down the aisle like an out of control child is not the answer.

  19. First class/world problems. If this happened in coach, where I am lucky to get upgraded to from cargo, I’d take this as in-flight entertainment, abeit, a freak one. On a serious note, I thought we are supposed to remain buckled up in the event of any unedpected turbulence, which these days, have become a lot more expected…
