I can’t test this because I’m not an iPhone guy, and a Blackberry version is still in the works, but still seemed worth passing along.
Built on QPX™, ITA’s airfare pricing and shopping engine, OnTheFly offers the same advanced, powerful comparison shopping features used by many travel companies and by ITA’s Matrix airfare search application at http://matrix.itasoftware.com. OnTheFly enables users to easily shop for optimal airfares for any itinerary in the world and provides comprehensive choices to tailor the search and shopping experience.
It’s even free from the iPhone app store.
Thanks for the heads-up. It’s a pretty good app and seems slightly easier and more convenient than the kayak app — with the exception of actually being able to buy a ticket. The one problem is not being able to input the ‘computer codes’ that allow for very detailed searches (forcing 3 stops, specifying multiple airports, etc.). It’d be fantastic if all the cods were usable.
Looks good. Shame that they used that name; there’s another “On The Fly!” app (with that punctuation) in the app store.
Got excited by the headline, but @Mark’s note that the routing language isn’t available is a big disappointment.
Still, looking forward to playing with the BlackBerry version.
It works very well indeed. What is ITA’s business model, how do they make any money with these apps? Is it just a showcase for their (paid) engine?
