Kamala Harris Chocolate Bar on American Airlines? Passenger’s Surprise Highlights Vanishing Inflight Politics This Year

An American Airlines passenger says that one of the flight attendants on board their recent Airbus narrowbody flight handed out Kamala Harris chocolate bars. He took to social media for an explanation from the airline… but then conceded that the chocolate bar was actually “kinda good.”

I haven’t seen any other reports of this happening across other flights, or even more reports of it on this flight. And the passenger hasn’t yet responded to public or private messages.

According to American Airlines,

The item pictured is not one of American’s onboard service items. We are investigating the matter, including reaching out to the customer to learn more.

Usually it’s passengers giving chocolates to the crew, not the other way around. And American is uniquely ungenerous with coach snacks, so this is probably the best nourishment you’re going to get? Even though American Airlines employees aren’t permitted to engage in political activity at work, if someone wants to use their political preferences to fund my snacks, frankly I’m in favor of it.

These chocolates appear to be available in some airports. It’s not clear to me whether the flight attendant (or passenger!) picked these up on the way to their gate, or brought them to the airport to distribute.

While the American Airlines flight attendants union has endorsed Kamala Harris for President, broadly speaking I haven’t other reports of flight attendants handing out snacks promoting one campaign or the other on any airline. And pilots seem to have gone silent making “Let’s Go Brandon!” announcements.

Passengers even seem tamer? There’s the occasional ‘in your face’ candidate shirt but even there the politicking has been kept to a minimum. So maybe the plane won’t get too political leading up to (and in the aftermath of!) the upcoming Presidential election.

  1. Sucks that AA had to go political. We have their freaking card and frankly can use other airlines. Maybe kickbacks are lining pockets?

  2. That’s how they get the microchip in your brain. Then it works with COVID reprogramming virus to control you.

  3. If Trump is elected (God forbid) he’ll no doubt put Kamala in prison (or have her executed) and anybody possessing those chocolate bars . . . likewise.

  4. My dreams, aspirations, and ambitions include receiving a Kamala chocolate bar from a flight attendant who is probably has not reached the middle class.

  5. Whats the over/under on this flight attendant wearing:
    Thick plastic framed glasses
    Palestinian flag pin
    Gay rainbow pin
    BLM (Burn/Loot/Murder) pin
    APFA war lanyard

  6. Hey… it was an individual, not the airline giving it out.
If the person on the plane didn’t want it, they could have said: “No thank you”… but instead the outcome was “kinda good”.

So it was offered, free of charge, accepted by the passenger and consumed.
Sounds like a win for the passenger.

Other airlines do regularly give out chocolates or other sweets. Looks like for that passenger, it was also an upgrade, ala Swiss Air-ish.

Shortly, I’m sure that there will abe a conspiracy theory that Kamala chocolate controls the red state weather… because THATS how they getcha.

(Can’t wait to get beyond this election season, I have had it… knowing that all of us are immigrants or descended from immigrants, one side is especially moronic. Did you know his current wife’s dad was a communist? Interesting…)

  7. This is bad FA behavior…. extra miles to all passengers.

Both candidates are not pro frequent flyer.

Both candidates are not pro elderly.

Both candidates are anti-health care. They both cut Medicare but behind the scenes.

    Both candidates are anti-government efficiency.

    Both are anti-children.

KamalaH likes to raise taxes and is slick. DonaldT is a jerk and us crude.

  8. Anyone comparing today’s stampede of illegals entering this country to the immigrants who entered this country up through the beginning of the 19th century is an idiot. Enjoy your sanctuary city fool.

  9. “Do you want a credit card application? Oh, Ok here, have a chocolate bar.”

    Sounds awesome.

  10. These are being handed out for free while the Trump chocolate bars already sold out (unlike his opponent who has already sold out her ‘unchanged’ values). Same with cookies, as there are lots of excess Harris cookies still available.

  11. How about a $100,000 watch that allows people to get around campaign donation limits?

    But yeah, free chocolate bars.

Ps… don’t forget, 100+ years or so ago the only “white” immigrants were Anglo Saxons, as they were the only folks that they considered white. So, the rest of y’all are likely from immigrants on par or worse that today.

  12. On your next flight in mid November they will be giving out Trump IOUs or you can get a raffle chance at $100ea for a get out of jail free card.

  13. @derek – No Harris did not vote to cut Medicare.

While Trump said she did, because of course he would… every accusation is a confession.

For fact check, see: Politifact & KFF Health News.

  14. This was maybe not a smart move to do by a flight attendant because she was probably hoping it would push customers to vote Brainless harris

  15. Passing out political agenda chocolate bars on company time to paying passengers who are basically trapped/captive guests on the flight is the heighth of rudeness.

  16. I’ve seen these and identical Trump bars for sale at several airports. Almost certainly this guy bought it and posted it as a joke and/or to get engagement.

  17. Leftists when FA hands out Kamala chocolate bar: “what’s the big deal? it’s an individual’s choice, not the airlines. why are you so sensitive?”
Leftists when a passenger wears a Trump shirt: “that is inappropriate! you should be removed from the flight and banned for life! I’m also going to record you and shame you publicly and get you fired from your job!”

    @James Thurber
Project much? Leftists love to accuse conservatives of what they are guilty of. Do you really have this little self awareness and not see how incredibly stupid your comment is?

  18. Kamalala candy bars? Passed out by an employee on cimpany time. What a insult to thinking voters and a rude affront and rip off to the Airline. Most Dems I know don’t like the candidate who is such an embarrassment.

  19. Trump’s 1st 4 years went smooth as silk: booming economy, highest employment rate of US minorities in history, low gas prices, low inflation, no wars…. and still the Trump derangement syndrome idiocy is being spewed out in some above comments.with no facts to back the rhetoric. “Don’t confuse me with the facts, give me chocolate Kamala bars…God help us –

  20. Stayed there a few times pre-pandemic. Nice, but paying for the Gold Floor was overpriced…paying for beverages in the gold lounge!? Not again!

  21. This is not per AA service standard. I am actually suspect that this happened in the way the passenger says.

This was pure clickbait as it just doesn’t pass the obvious logistics test.

These are widely available in airport concessions. They are several dollars each.

If “everyone” got these on the plane. We are talking in the range of 300 dollars.

I highly doubt this was just a rogue FA wanting to pass these out. They are on food stamps remember.

I think this is just wanting attention. And they got it. Whether it’s a Harris supporter or a Trump supporter – who knows. You can make the argument for both.

Can we just be apolitical on board and talk about weather and sports teams again?

  22. Employees should not do anything political at their workplace unless it is part of their job

  23. A passenger handed these out to FAs on my (AA) JFK-LAX flight last week – the FAs seemed quite thrilled.

  24. I’m going to hand out white chocolate Trump candy bars on my AA flight to Dallas next week.

  25. The only one that had this right is Sco in their comment. This did not happen. Have some common sense people. This Kam? guy will be reported. Hopefully will never see him on my flight because he’s about to get banned from trying to get an employee fired through his LIES just to get attention. He’s an idiot and so are a few of these commenters actually believing this happened.

  26. Thanks, Flyer1! I would assume that Gary knows this and is also just using it to farm for engagement…but then he did seem to seriously believe that “rawdogging” flights was a thing that people were actually doing and not just a very obvious (and funny) joke. So who knows.

  27. To “Thurber”…YOU are a really sad person to make your comments like that. It shows your radical biases, your lack of tolerance for other’s beliefs and consideration. The political candy bars being passed out (regardless of whether a flight attendant or passenger passed them out) is wrong. The airline should have stopped that nonsense right off the bat. To be honest, I don’t like either candidate. I am a Veteran. I believe in the sanctity of the United States Constitution, the belief that the United States Of America is great, that we lead by strength, not weakness. We WANT people to come to enjoy our country…but doing so legally. I don’t care if someone is gay or transgender. I like people for WHO they are…NOT WHAT they are. I believe that my young daughter or young son should be able to go into a restroom/dressing room and not be subjected to ANY person of the opposite biological sex to be parading around showing off their “junk”. That is just plain WRONG on so many counts. The Civil Rights Act says that discrimination based on race, sex, religion, creed, “skin color”, etc. is WRONG. Most will agree. So why would the President say that he will only hire a woman person of color. Why not close your eyes and look ONLY at the curriculum vitae and pick from that? Otherwise, his choice is in direct violation of the Act? So you continue espousing your beliefs. That’s fine. “What’s good for thee but not for me!” You have that right. Just don’t criticize me because I disagree.

  28. It’s unbelievable how anyone with half a brain could even consider voting for Harris or any other Democrat. Look around and open your eyes. Our country is a mess right now. And to think I used to be a registered Democrat. Please forgive me

  29. “James Thurber says:
    October 12, 2024 at 1:21 pm
If Trump is elected (God forbid) he’ll no doubt put Kamala in prison (or have her executed) and anybody possessing those chocolate bars . . . likewise.”

Seriously? Who did he lock up his first four years? It was the other way around, the Dems trying to impeach him twice and lock him up! What are you smoking? All Trump did was crack down on illegal immigration, help the economy to boom, lower minority unemployment to its lowest in decades, the list goes on. He doesn’t need to put anyone in prison – his revenge will be success.

  30. What are the chances that the woman taking a selfie while holding a Kamala bar would be wearing a mask? You just can’t make this stuff up.

  31. Came here for the comments, and Gary’s radicalized fan base didn’t disappoint.

Look at all the red hat wearing snowflakes getting hurt by a chocolate bar.

  32. After flying almost 2 million miles in my career this would have been the proverbial ‘straw that broke the camel’s back’. I am a firm believer in one off our basic rights as an American citizen to support and even voice your opinion of support for whichever candidate you support. However this right does NOT include forcing your opinion (quite literally) down my throat. With all the current reasons to be based from flying this is surely very high on my list. While I do not support The Harris ticket and will proudly display my support for the opposition it is on my own not forced upon others. This country as a whole has taken political polarization way too far. It has no place inside a tin tube whistling along 7 miles above the earth.
