Around 2 a.m. this morning a man stole a bus from American Airlines at New York JFK and drove it around New York. The bus had been left running, and there were no passengers on board at the time.
The suspect drove down the Van Wyck Expressway, the Grand Central, crossed into Manhattan and flew down the FDR Drive, before crossing the Brooklyn Bridge. His chase spanned across multiple boroughs.
The bus thief, who “has nine prior arrests for things like robbery and transit fraud,” was caught in Brooklyn. He had never stolen a bus before.
According to local news, the man has a long rap sheet, which presses the question, how did he get access to presumably secure areas of the airport?
Transit fraud, meaning he hopped the turnstile, and I’m guessing the robberies were fairly petty. Sounds like an unfortunate individual with a fairly rough upbringing. Too bad, waste of human potential. He’ll probably do some time for this one.
GTA in real life.
the bigger story is the lack of security at some place at JFK apparently in the AA terminal.
Or what might have been installed inside of it.
“Hop on the bus, Gus.”
Does anybody know the whereabouts of George Santos last night?
LOL. In New York, literally nothing will happen to this person. He can’t be held for any period of time and when he doesn’t show up for his hearing, nothing will happen. No bail, no jail, no prosecution.
And you wonder why we can’t get the hell out of New York fast enough?
The same thing will happen to the guy who steals from the Marshals on Central Ave in Yonkers. The next day, he will be out on the streets doing the same thing. Unfortunately, it is a disturbing trend that isn’t going away anytime soon.
“has nine prior arrests for things like robbery and transit fraud” – I’m not surprised at all he is free, in Democrat run NY that’s the norm.
Lesson here: take your keys with you.
BBK — exactly. We need to worry more about how crime decimates society than how much of a bummer it is for criminals to get punished.
Not gonna lie, this is kind of awesome…
To those who are wondering how this can happen in a “secured area of an airport, more than likely it wasn’t. These types of buses are usually used for employees only but to get to / from the airport terminals where designated pickup or drop off areas are the same as would be for passengers taking public transportation or shuttles to car rentals, ride shares, etc…. (I’m an airline employee with a different carrier but this is how we go to and from work this way.) The bus was likely sitting somewhere idle and in-between shifts in a public transportation area when this guy spotted it and decided to go GTA5 on everybody!!!
Looks like an employee parking lot. Not on the airside.
