Mexico City Karen Goes Behind Ticket Counter, Smashes Airline Computers

A woman who purchased a trip on Volaris out of Mexico City lost all control when she checked in at the airport and found out that she didn’t have a properly-issued ticket. The agent at the counter insisted that the woman purchase a new one.

She purchased her ticket through a travel agency and apparently they didn’t verify that it had been done correctly. The woman leaped up on the ticket counter, beginning her quest to destroy more airline equipment than the new ticket would cost her. And then she proceeded behind the counter to do even more damage.

In total the erstwhile passenger trashed four airline computers and four of their scanners, while yelling:

If you don’t want to, don’t give me the money back. I don’t give a f—. But that’s going to cost you!

Police responded just as she was exiting stage left, and arrested the woman as she left the terminal. Volaris plans to press charges.

Here’s video of the incident:

According to Volaris,

A passenger reacted violently when she was notified that she had to complete the purchase of her flight. Apparently the lady had tried to make the payment with several credit cards without success, causing our fraud prevention system to issue a security alert.

Volaris was founded by the king of low cost carriers who mentored former America West, US Airways and American CEO Doug Parker. The Mexican carrier considers itself an alternative to the bus (and counts passengers at bus stops to decide where to fly).

  1. I was under the impression this only happen in the good old USA. 😉

  2. Not Karen but Maria. On the other hand, you paid for your seat a while ago and the agent tries to stiff you with a much more expensive ticket while suggesting you try to get money back from the ticket agency. Welcome to the world of airlines. This is why I check in online or at least confirm my seat the day before flying. She shouldn’t have done it but people are fed up with the games that airlines play that always screw the passengers. I wonder if the ticket was confirmed at the ticket agency but not confirmed and issued per the airline gate computer.

  3. Stop using the equivalent of the N word. Karen is a woman’s name, end of story. What ŵould Black people do if people used a generic word “LaKeisha” for a Black female?

    Stop it!

  4. Reading above comments it shows nobody has ever felt the frustration of the lack of Mexican customer service. Especially with airlines, mobile carriers, government, etc. As you can read in the Spanish comments lots of people write that this lady represents them as well.

  5. Thank you derek for your comment. My name is Karen and I’m getting really pissed off (which is an unusual state for me to be in) because Gary Leff, reporters and others continue to use a name (my name as it turns out) in a derogatory way. Am I white….. YES, am I old…….YES……am I entitled……hell no; I’ve worked since I was 13 years old and paid for my own education……..do I display aggression against others…….NO. This trend of calling a bitch as a Karen needs to take a rest and go into oblivion.

I’ve been a global traveler for many years. I used to like this newsletter because of the helpful hints I picked up but I think the time to discontinue subscribing has come.

  6. Karen is not color-specific, Kevin – oh sorry, I mean Derek! There are I guarantee you, a myriad of black women out there named Karen (and other races, but I’m sure you leaping directly to black women and using what you consider a ‘black’ name doesn’t say anything about you). Similarly, Kevin – sorry, Derek! – women of other races can and have behaved as and been called out as Karens. But because Karen behaviour is often very deeply rooted in the soil of privilege, white women are *very* fond of putting themselves on display and therefore you see more white Karens and decide its racist that they… exist?

  7. @derek
relax chad….even karens don’t take it that personally, well, except karen in this blog that apparently lives up to her name
say hi to all the LaKeishas in the hood

  8. I agree. Why are they using the name KAREN as another word for b****? Leave that name alone. Why trash someone’s name in a derogatory way. Call that person for how they behave in public. Plain and simple.

  9. I usually find it hard to watch videos of people being “violent” in airports, attacking gate agents, throwing punches, etc. This one was pretty funny, though.

  10. The Karen are an ethnic group that is mostly in Myanmar (Burma). Using that name in a derogatory way is racist.

  11. To those you think prison may teach her a lesson, she may wind up running the place.

  12. America hating crowd (specially the domestic one) already cracking their knuckles prepared to bash the ‘American women’ were so disappointed when they heard the video.

But not as much as when they found the guy of the Roman Colosseum case wasn’t American, they went from ‘American garbage’ to ‘our borders should be open to let him in for cultural enrichment’ in the blink of an eye.

  13. Americans of a certain age are pathetic. They take offence when none is intended and lose their temper when a calm attitude will often, if not usually, work wonders.
Most of those whom I consider pathetic haven’t gone through what those of us in our 9th or 10 decades have, nor have they lived through the horrors and deprivations of a World War on their home turf.
You are entitled to humane treatment by a UN convention, and the US Constitution guarantees you certain rights. But that’s about it.
The rest will come to you according to how you treat others, unless you’re in a concentration camp, a POW camp, or a DP camp. And then your guards will probably give you a lesson in humility.
You are not royalty and if you were, you need to remember what the colonists did in the middle of the 18th century.
Chill out and try to remember and do as Rabbi Hillel counseled: “Do not do unto others as you would not have others do unto you.” How do you think the Jews have managed to put up with what’s come our way?

  14. Gator air grrr. Never ever again am I going to fly America airlines /qatar Air. Never seen so much bull in my life. The people a couple older people had drinks. I mean drinks not one but 16 drinks. They were loud .mouthed filthy acting then when you think it’s settled down. The women goes and stands beside my waiting for the restroom. But no the drunkin grr stood there and passed all over the floor then took to the restroom and proceeded to undress coming out in only a top.butt naked showing everything smiling not knowing where she even was. I told the attendant they need to stop serving them. He did but never told anyone else. So there getting drinks in from back and middle of plain. This is totally uncalled for. You would think they would tell all the attendants to not serve them.it was disgusting say the least. Falling over everyone. Plain stunk like pee I’m the back where I was and I just got up stood on other side till time to land. This could have been a lot worse but thank God they passed out.
